3ds max is easier to learn IMO as almost every aspect of the software is well documented and plenty of forums in the internet that you can definitely find whatever you want to do or learn, and in step by step! Also can pm me if need any help, no prob

Very good for a first 3ds max animation, will be even better if you show the actual transformation, maybe using Morph. Add sun rays too
