Hello LOSD, Nice 3d views you have. I'm also an Interior Designer, just graduated recently. I used Max 7 with Vray too. I guess there is many thing we can share together.

You Can check my College project here : http://clive.carbonmade.com

I nvr use HDRI map before.. is it complicated? Is it used for reflective object... So that the glossy items in the scene will not reflect only WHITE/ BLACK only. Am I right. Pls share some.. Send me the HDRI if possible for me to try out smile.gif

Anyway, Did u do freelance 3d?

Hi, cool to see people here interested in 3D!  biggrin.gif

Here's some of the stuff I made with Google Sketchup, a very simple and nice (and most importantly, FREE lol) 3D modelling program.

Its alot more intuitive than 3DS Max, but for advanced modelling tools and capabilities of course Max still wins. Perfect for beginners to get familiar with working in 3D though.  wink.gif

Nice sketchup.. Somehow.. sometime i still like this kind of simple sketchy-look images. i I oso just download d trial sketchup and is really simple and fun. the only bad thing is ...it is not very good for interior perspective since there is no downlight in it

Not really sure wat u guys are toking about.. quandra? is it like a graphic card or wat. I only do Interior scene.. so dont think need too much advance setting that can add on to the rendering time. My interior scene usually took around 6-7 hours to render at 1500x 756 for normal setting. rclxub.gif

Any1 here who is good in interior visualisation and can use Vray well? I want to learn more in it. Please share thumbup.gif

Oh yeah.. Did any1 here know where to download nice good furniture model?

Im also interior designer.. now doing fulltime 3d visualing for interior firms.

Somehow that is my skill right now...and I have been used by few company i work with in visualising because that is my strength.... The bad thing is... I lost experience in other aspect of Interior Design.

I might become really 3d visualizer depends on how my current career develops in the next few months.

I have a question about software+ hardware that might need you guys to help me. You guys sure will have better understanding of the software u r using.

I just bought a new machine:
Quad core2dua Q6600
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard
2gb ram (upgrade to 4gb later)
GT 8800 512mb.

I have not install any Windows yet for it.. my question is shall I use windows vista 32 bit or 64bit. because 3dsmax9 can support 64bit and im not sure will this perform better than 32bit. And will there be any problem for software running at 32bit to run in Vista 64bit
? rclxub.gif

Help help... i hv to quickly set up my new machine to start working... unsure.gif (and then GAMING!~)

hey clive. im always wanting to be a fulltime freelancer, but i can hardly get jobs. maybe my circle is too small n no connections. perhaps u could help me out? like passing me some jobs on the way?

btw, did u get bad experiences getting payment from clients?
*
Last time I start by secretly doing freelance for the COMPANY I WORK WITH..... ahahhaha.. of course with cooperation from the Senior in charge.... then some friends recommend me others... thr r few ppl i work with only once and nvr hv job oredi... could b their problem (cut cost) or my problem (too slow) sweat.gif When i first start out freelance... was doing pretty bad.. only few project tat dealing with Many perspectives (such as hotel) that i earn more ... (could last me few months without jobs....)... Most of the jobs i accept r LAST MINUTES WORKs.. so i gotta sacrifice for those.. is important to get the first impression n b effective... a lot of jobs will depend on those later on. the client will recommend to another client...

bad experiences getting payment ah.. got of course.. but so far.. all make their payment... they r really SLOOOOOWWWWWW one.. but they did pay... recently im doing the 3D for Pudu Raya bus station...when the amount they hold getting more.. d more afraid im that they will not settle all of them in d end.. sweat.gif should work on a more secure invoicing...

Hi guys, this is my updated website with my latest 3d works.. Mostly interior and architecture. I will like to hear honest comments from you guys about my work. notworthy.gif

Clivengu.com

This thread doesnt seem to have much updates... I do hope to see more people involve as I am very interest to see how other people is doing in this industry in Malaysia...

I hope you guys wouldn't mind if I start a bit of survey here... I need some input and suggestion for myself.

I have been doing 3D for Interior & Architecture (one-man-show) for the last 4-5years. I constantly trying to improve my 3d skill, but due to tight schedule on many projects, I can hardly try and explore new things. My own career has reached a limit where I can only do as much as myself can do. It is very hard for me to go further by myself. That is why I am thinking to somehow expand my small "company" name. Currently I work without a proper office... Just work from home.. So without much commitment.

My idea of expanding my business, is perhaps start hiring a few junior 3d designers, to assist me in basic modelling and managing less difficult jobs. To do that I will need to commit on a proper office rental + workstations for them. But in return, I will have more time to do better and explore more interesting jobs in future.

My future targets are:
1. Targeting more Architectural Jobs especially those from Property Developers. Currently I have most jobs from interior designer/architect with tighter budget as they do not require too "high-end" visualisation. Therefore the cost I charged is a lot lower than the professional 3d visualisation firms. I dont want to just do a nice job.. I wan to do the Best Visual tongue.gif
2. Trying to venture into architecture Walk-through Animation. I have not done any animation jobs as they are consider "BIG job" and I yet to meet such opportunities and im still limited by my skills.

I am aiming bigger here.. I dont know how long will it takes for me to reach my goal, but I think is time for me to breakthrough my limit.

I got many questions and things I like to find out... I do hope any of you guys can help... even if they are just a small help.

My questions are:
1. Do you think my 3d work has the "quality" to have people willing to join my team? Do I need to improve my skill a lot more in order to Qualify as a so call "art director" of a small company of my own?
2. I like to find out what are the leading 3d visualising companies in Malaysia. Doing architectural rendering and animation walkthrough. I will like to benchmark myself against them. Kindly share the company name if any of you guys come from the same industry.
3. From what school/courses are 3d visualisers came from? Personally I am a Interior Design/architecture Graduate.. I came out to work as 3d visualiser because I like to specialise in just this one skill. But I wondering who are the best candidates for the jobs. Are they multimedia 3d graduate? or same like me, architect / ID base. I will definitely need someone with knowledge in term of basic animation for the walkthrough job and able to work on programmes like Aftereffects. I dont know how to use aftereffect but.. I still hope I can learn.

I really welcome any suggestion or sharing experience that may help me in going the the right direction. Many Thanks in advance!

PM if you like to share with me personally ! smile.gif

Hello people here,

I am a student and i am interested to do some 3D stuffs, however i dunno where & how to start.

After i read around 30+ pages in this topic, i found out there are quite a numbers of software to use like Autodesk 3ds max, Autodesk maya, Blender, Daz studio...etc etc

and i also found out there are something call rendering stuffs like V-Ray...can i know what does this rendering stuff do??

So i wanna ask for you all recommendation for newbie beginner like me to start off...

Thanks alot smile.gif
*
What kind of student and course are you taking? And what kind of 3d do you plan to build?
You can try 3ds max first... Once u are more familiar with the modeling technique and the basic then u can try the vray plug in to have a more realistic material and final rendering. Feel free to ask me if u need any guide smile.gif

A good start will be training program like Lynda.com they provide very good training and is really interesting to follow... I wish I have the time to follow more training on other software as well. But unfortunately I'm too tie up with my jobs already ....

Thanks alot for your reply   laugh.gif

I am still a university student and i am taking IT course in UKM but majoring in system management sort of like database thingy, however i am kinda more interested in multimedia stuffs like designing  nod.gif

I am new to 3d things, so i just wanna try out building some basic 3d stuffs to see how these 3d model actually build and work  smile.gif

thanks alot for your given link also~
*
Ic.. so you are not a design student so you wont be learning these software in university. Is ok anyone can learn, I have an IT friend now also bcoming a 3d visualiser already tongue.gif

if you not sure where to start.. maybe you can start from the easy one first. I highly recommend google sketchup..can download for free... and the first few tips they gave when u start the software is enough for u to play with a lot of things. It is the easiest software to learn.. (not necessary easy to master though)

but then im worry that if you try sketchup first, then only start to play with 3ds max you will find it very annoying because it is a lot more complicated.

Personally I start from 3ds max... then sketchup released and I tried,, WOW.. is quick and user friendly, easy to use! But because of the nature of my job... I still stick back to 3ds max.
