Previously, CIMB bank account numbers were 12-14 digits, but they have now changed to 10 digits.
I recently noticed that CGS INTERNATIONAL SECURITIES MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. (FORMERLY KNOWN AS CGS-CIMB SECURITIES SDN. BHD.) offers an e-withdrawal option, which is great. It allows us to withdraw money from our shares account to client’s Designated CIMB Bank Account.
However, I noticed that the last 4 digits of the account number do not match my current 10-digit CIMB bank account number.
Additionally, I have forgotten my old 14-digit bank account number. Although the old 14-digit bank account number is still valid, I can't recall it.

CIMB had a system upgrade over the frantic period of Chinese New Year holidays.
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Customers of Malaysia’s second biggest bank, CIMB Bank Bhd, have taken to venting their frustration on social media after the bank changed account numbers to a new arbitrary string of 10 digits.
The complaints came despite notification from the bank ahead of its two-day-long system upgrade over the Chinese New Year holiday period.
According to CIMB’s website, all existing deposit accounts — savings, current, and fixed deposit — and loans accounts were assigned new numbers starting today even though old account numbers still work.
Credit cards and safe deposit box accounts are not affected by the change, the bank said.
On Twitter, the bank’s support account @CIMB_Assists has been actively engaging customers who aired their confusion over the change since this morning.
“Hi, your old account number is still operational. Only your new account number will be displayed at the ATM and on CIMB Clicks,” was one reply to a disgruntled user.
CIMB had a system upgrade between 11.45pm on January 31 and 6.00am today, over the frantic period of Chinese New Year holidays.
Some complained that the bank’s sites remained slow after the upgrade .
“Upgrade? CIMB Clicks website don't seem to load faster than before...still slow … I still don't understand why the CIMB acct nbr changed from 12-14 digits to 10 digits.
14 digits means they could cater to more users,” said a series of tweets from @scamboy, the alias of K. Kugan, the founder of internet and telco news site Malaysian Wireless.
