If dried out or got mouldy patches just throw it out. Store bought kuetiaw I won't keep for more than few days in the fridge. The unused portion usually I put in airtight container and finished them ASAP.

I think if its still in the packaging should be fine. unless opened and exposed to the air then will definitely dry out la |

REAL, non palm oil based ones are shelf stable, they last extremely long, they cost DOUBLE in price. Those palm oil based ones, a lot cheaper though. They clamp up together like a lump..

Newly bought - 1 week should be ok.
Cooked - that depends. No tauge, siham should still be OK after 2-3 days. If with tauge and siham, just throw into bin. |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jun 20 2024, 12:18 PM) from my experience...kuew tiaw itself can last a long time No wrong. The oil palm shit probably had turned rancid. Actually, whether one, in his/her later part of life, can walk into a coffeeshop using 1 minute or 1 hour is determined by the food one's having now. Been sitting in coffeeshop to monitor what type of breakfast are ppl having everyday.. It's yellow mee, kuey tiaow and bee hoon, oil palm based then togethered with a cup/glass of palm oil based creamer mixed beverage..the problem is the oil, the oil makes it stinks after long period which u have to throw away at the end |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jun 20 2024, 12:56 PM) yes but the oil they use is bad oil and it's way too oily It doesnt last long bcoz of water not oil.which makes the kuew tiao doesn't last long Bacteria live if there is water. Witout oil, kuew tiaw (after steam) will stick & become bad very quick (maybe in 1 day). Oil become bad because there is water. Wthout water, few years also oil will not bad. PS: U can make experiment, flour+water vs flour+oil; u will know which will smell bad after 1-2 day.. This post has been edited by khusyairi: Jun 20 2024, 01:19 PM |

I've kept unopened kuey teow in the fridge for about a week without any issues. Just check for any weird smell or sliminess. If it looks and smells fine, it should be good to go.
