I got a question to..

I've try to setup my macbook as a main hub to share my wi-fi surrounded my area.

the connection flow should be like ths

LAN cable --> Macbook ---> Airport Extreme with enable personal web sharing and internet sharing *which the icon for my airport will be an arrow pointed up.

the problem is
I was able to detect my wi-fi, but no internet can run through except google.com
and sometimes not even work for google.

therefore I was trying to view my airport IP.
is generated completely different from my LAN IP.
and right now I have no clue to get it out. and my ipod stated with different IP and DNS host number as well. any help?

Try changing the IP settings manually instead of auto-assigning them.

what's your 'Personal Web Sharing' and 'Airport Options' settings?

i enable my personal web sharing then it stated my web ip is http://192.168.1.XX/
then i set WEP on my internet sharing password (even tried out without putting the password). then my airport icon shows an "arrow up" icon instead normal one.

then I try to work out to the airport setting, so i assume airport will auto generate a new IP due to it sharing the internet.
so the new IP is 169.254.131.216, subnet mask will be 255.255.0.0
then it leave blank for DNS and router...

next on I move on to my ipod.
make a network reset b4 i proceed to tested out again.
then open my wifi, it start search and found my wifi that signal out from my macbook, after login with the password everything,
I just jump to the option or detail to look at the IP and DNS setting...
this is the strange things...

it shows my ip is 192.254.24.45
and Subnet mask will be 255.255.0.0
and DNS and router leave blank as well...

within 5 seconds on the same screen.

my IP change to 10.0.2.2
and subnet mask chang to 255.255.255.0
and Router field it with 10.0.2.1
and DNS field it with 10.0.2.1

anyone could help me out?
this things been srewed out of my brain couple days ago....

try not to set anything for your airport sharing.
let the OS do the job.

hi fren

i abit blur for your setting ; LAN cable --> Macbook ---> Airport Extreme

it should be ADSL Modem > Airport extreme > macbook

Airport extreme itself already a wireless router and 4port hub. not macbook as hub..after setting u can even unplug the lan cable from yr macbook, just leave the modem and airport extreme ON and you can enjoy the wifi at home within the range.

Security wise try use WPA/WPA2 in-seat of WEP, i can't use WEP on my office setting, PC use b/g cant connect until i change to WPA.

Try reset the airport extreme b4 re configue anything.
