Good riddance la. He said it has always been his dream to play for Chelsea in the footsteps of his hero like Drogba.

I think highlights of our season would be this kind of “stats”. It’s absolutely useless if we play like 💩 collectively.

Right now I think even if you say to Pep, here’s 50 million go do your magic & if you manage to turn this team around you’ll have the key to the club forever….i don’t think he can do it.

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Sep 3 2024, 09:32 AM)
About a third. But it is the minimum number of games for me to be able to draw a certain conclusion on the team based on structure and style of play. It is a quirk of modern football that we judge performance game to game. Imagine if we joined a company and they did their performance appraisals every month. We should not be the old Chelsea.

I'm relatively ok this week because I expected a loss to Liverpool. They are a complete team and we are rebuilding. The unfortunate result was against Brighton. By having enough games to review, it lessens the impact of unfortunate events like Zirkzee offside.

I'm not saying it's OK to just accept losses.
I'm saying there is due process to this and it is part of the process. If we continue to be shit this season, the ETH has sacked himself anyway.
*
Well you really can’t blame some of the fans for reacting that way. After all we’ve seen it all before season after season, manager after manager & it has been relatively the same each season. Don’t forget mate that we have just been through last season with 14 defeats, a negative goal difference & finished 8th for goodness sake. Save for an FA Cup win, this season wouldn’t be like a normal season at all with no European football. And looking at other teams who seem to be able to operate in a “plug & play” situation no matter who the players are or manager, please forgive some of us for thinking it’s all gonna be 💩 again this season. And no, I don’t think winning another cup would save ETH again.

you do realize you're repeating what he was saying, and most of the comments before you.

Yeah, aren’t most of us like that. It’s frustrating for sure.

Well, how much time would ETH have to “complete the process”? Do you think his tenure is untenable should there be an unfavourable result again this weekend?

his first 2 seasons = 2 trophies

i wud give him another 3 seasons to rebuild ..expect to become EPL champions next on his 6th season  cool2.gif

..but i think he might got sacked early
*
Lol..I don’t think he’ll last 3 months if things don’t improve in the immediate future. Having said that, the way ETH spoke in press conferences suggested to me that there’s an agreement in place with SJR for the foreseeable future. How thick the line is between staying & sacking we dunno.

the new "process" starts with INEOS. regardless if eth do well or not.

this is a good read.

Yeah good read.

The way Ineos handled this transfer window made the previous management look like a bunch of amateurs. Interesting though the point about the trio Berrada, Ashworth & Wilcox starting work AFTER decision to retain ETH.

hahaha... Liverpool lost at home to Forest

Shame Manchester City won

Almost a perfect weekend for us

Can’t lie..nothing more perfect than a weekend where Utd win & pool lost. Cherry on top if Arsenal gets stuck tomorrow.

I personally don't like retrospectively awarding trophies. Moment is gone and it doesn't really mean much anymore.

Let them keep the titles if guilty, but give them a 20 point deduction per season for the next 5 years. I much prefer this.
*
20 points deduction per season meaning they stay in PL? I’d rather they get relegated to league 2 next season.

That ought to shut a certain Noel for a while.

First half performance was some of the best in recent years. If only we have a greenwoodish type winger or a RVN type striker. Despite the domination you’d get the feeling that Palace could potentially score with a counter & they nearly did if not for Onana.

Positives? A few & clean sheets in 3 is encouraging.

Negatives? We are still missing bits & pieces here & there not least finding a lethal finisher.

That red card was weak.
Arsenal fans already saying it was 12 v 10.

I’ve never seen a more blatant “park the bus” than Arsenal’s 2nd half last nite. I’ve seen teams with 10 men playing to victory.

Losing possession, bad with second balls, little chances created…what’s not to like about this Utd performance at home?

The only silver lining, if there’s one, is we’re only a goal down.
