I’ve never seen a more blatant “park the bus” than Arsenal’s 2nd half last nite. I’ve seen teams with 10 men playing to victory.
*
I don't blame them though.
When you are away. To Man City. Defending a one goal lead. And feel the ref is against you.

A few factors to consider.

Wonderful! Plenty of activity happening and differing opinions is great. That's why we have the forum.
So maybe we get a perspective that we had not considered.

On Rashford, I think it is a case of damned if we do and damned if we don't.

If Rashford starts, there will be criticism that he is undroppable.
If Rashford comes on as a sub, there will be criticism on not starting him if he scores and not keeping him on the bench if he doesn't.
If Rashford is kept on the bench, there will be criticism on keeping an in-form player who scored the past couple games and not using him.

I thought the decision to bench Rashford and start with the two youngsters was the correct one. Also the same that most fans were crying out for.
Just because we didn't score doesn't mean it was not the right decision judging by how we played. And talking about us not scoring.....

I don't see many mentions of Dean Henderson. Against his former club, he played with a chip on his shoulder and put up an immense performance.
How good? He made 7 saves and kept a clean sheet. The last GK who made 7+ saves and kept a clean sheet against United was Nick Pope back in 2020. Henderson also equalled a career best based on his saves. The xG based on the quality of shots he faced? 1.65 goals. This is like playing Football Manager and the opposing GK decides to go for it. We can only hope we don't face Fiorentina and give De Gea a chance.

Eriksen? I thought starting him was right too based on the way we controlled the first 70 minutes.
Together with De Ligt and Martinez, he controlled the tempo from the base of midfield. This game the midfield area wasn't too combative and it fit Eriksen's skillset fine. Against more aggressive teams, he may have trouble but this was ok. Even if we swapped Ugarte in for Bruno and pushed Eriksen up, Ugarte doesn't have the passing range from deep so we would have dropped off all the same. Last 20 minutes were just about finding a moment of magic from somebody.

Next game is Twente at 3am. GG.

baru 5 games. so fast write off city? they are without rodri for first few games also. cfc and villa also looking strong now. at least 10 games to see where everyone is
*
Talking about Villa, here is an interesting stat :

United are so far in front in terms of big chances missed, it is incredible.
The rest of the League can't compete. Villa and Pool are a distant second.

We just need our players to gain confidence and start converting.

Sancho 3 consecutive games assist.

Good to see our former player excel in other teams, while our player not improving at all.. who's problem?
*
Sancho is the problem for us. Always has been.

He's obviously decided to turn up and play for Chelsea. Shame he never did for us. How many times has he been fined for being late for training at Chelsea? Or at Dortmund? He's been infamous at United for doing so. Plus a 3month holiday in the middle of the season.

He has the ability. But mental attributes have always been his issue.
He didn't want to play for United and enjoyed the paycheck.
Perhaps someone sat him down and pointed out his easy contract was running out and he decided to commit. Or London is a better place to live for a young PL footballer than rainy Manchester.

I wish McTominay well but Sancho can take a long walk off a short pier.

Tonight we go again.

No need to worry about ETH, if we fail this season INEOS will probably replace him. If that happens, hopefully with a good candidate like how we did players this season.

Until then, support sampai masuk gua. Cave tonight ready.

Another familiar frustrating feeling of being a United fan.

I think the first 3 minutes really captured the essence of the entire game. Our players misplacing passes and miscontrolling the ball. Even the first goal which I missed because I tuned in a couple of minutes late. And Dalot who had his worst game in a United shirt, was a prime example leading to the goal.

With Spurs charging down the right side, Dalot had Brennan Johnson running from almost the halfway line into the box. He did not chase his man despite having half the pitch to do so, let him enter the box unmarked and score. Dalot then out his hands up after the goal went in. Why put your hands up when you've already let an opposition player have a tap in. 2nd minute of the game, and not chasing. The lack of energy from the entire team was so visible.

Maybe now we'll get to see if the team is better without Bruno in the team next game. Or if it is more of the same.

waiting for you to declare #ETHOut bro.

At best, it will be mid season if everything continues to go south.
Right now results aren't happening and Spurs were very good last night.

It's with INEOS now. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes because as a club, worst case scenario isn't sticking with Ten Hag. You always have the option to sack him.
Worst case scenario is sacking Ten Hag, hiring a new manager and then the new guy also goes and loses a string of games. Then what do we do.

Right now I'm just staying calm and monitoring future games.

QUOTE(MamulaMoon @ Sep 30 2024, 04:40 PM)
Not a straight red card, the referee got it wrong

The correct decision should be a yellow card.

If Bruno fernandes didn't receive red card, we are very likely to get at least a draw or even a win.
*
I've got two viewpoints on this.
First is even if Bruno had stayed on, we would have still gotten smashed. We were crap before he got sent off. The silver lining when he went off is that we could say it played a part in the loss. So for me results wise, wouldn't really have mattered.

Then the red card itself. I'm with you that looking at similar incidents, it shouldn't have been a red. This is referee inconsistency.

Let me not go too far. Here is the other game with our City rivals against Newcastle.

Kovacic on Tonali. Studs up. Hard contact. Ball long gone.
Yellow card.

This was much worse than Bruno's. But then we can make a case of City getting away with a lot more but I digress.

i disagree. fire around you and you decide to sit tight. this is the worse case scenario.
sack him, 50-50 we can recover from our slump. dun sack him, we let the slump continue.
i think this is quite an easy decision for ineos tbh
*
That's cool.
If I were INEOS and have decided to sack him, the international break would be a good time.

Either way as a fan, I'm agnostic on it right now.

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Sep 30 2024, 11:38 PM)
LOL what? Silver lining? LOOOOL
I love Bruno, but fuck Bruno for getting sent off. People gonna use that to shield the loss.

We were absolutely SHIT, its been the case for so freaking long now. Look open your eyes just look at Spurs, clear style of play, people can talk about the weaknesses high line whatever, you see it, it was the same freaking case when Klopp first season with Liverpool, you see something but they played well but had exploitable weaknesses until they strengthened got the right pieces of the puzzle. We dont have the puzzle to find pieces for and the longer we keep this freaking clown manager the more time we waste.

A lot of toxic positivity larh to cope ....
*
I think you need to read my sentence in context. I had the opinion that it wouldn't have mattered to the result. There are fans saying it played a part to the loss which I did not agree with.
Perhaps my sentence structure could have been better there.

Don't hang the messenger lah.

Here is an interesting fixture. Mark your calendars, 25 Oct.

We play Fenerbache. They have a midfield of apparently United rejects, Fred and Amrabat. Managed by our ex manager, Jose Mourinho.

How do you think we will do?

Fred and Amrabat will be motivated to put in man of the match performances like Henderson did. Imagine if Mou gets a convincing win.

Media pieces will be through the roof.

Emery is only effective at clubs with VILLA in the name.

SeVILLA
VILLAreal
Aston VILLA

At Arsenal, they didn't think he did well and replaced him. biggrin.gif

City win the case.
But it is not the one with 115 charges. But it is on Associated Party Transactions so it may influence the other ongoing charges. I don't have line of sight on how that's going because it's all behind closed doors.

City's main talent pool isn't on the pitch. It is their lawyer team.
