A Race Against Time: How We Saved a Primary School’s LED Screen Before Their Big Event

A few days ago, we received an urgent call from a primary school. Their headmaster was worried as they were preparing for a grand event happening that weekend, and their indoor LED screen was not working. Understanding the urgency, we dispatched a nearby technician to the site on the same day.

When we arrived, we spoke with the teacher in charge, only to find that they had no information about the system—no documentation, no schematics, not even an invoice from the original supplier. Left with no other option, we rolled up our sleeves and began investigating the system from scratch.

This LED screen, installed in 2018 by a local supplier, turned out to have a faulty receiving card and multiple burned-out power supply units. Unfortunately, when we contacted the original supplier, they informed us they no longer carried this brand and suggested we contact the manufacturer in China instead.

Determined to help, we searched online and found a supplier in Johor who stocked the required Linsn receiving card. We presented two options to the headmaster:
1️⃣ Order the card from the Johor supplier for faster delivery.
2️⃣ Purchase directly from the manufacturer in China, which would take at least a week.

The challenge? We couldn’t be certain if the issue was limited to the receiving card or if it extended to the processor, as this was our first time working with this specific brand. To ease the headmaster’s concerns, we proposed a risk-free solution:

If the repair succeeded, we would bill them for the parts.
If not, they wouldn’t have to pay anything, despite the parts being purchased.
The headmaster agreed, and we proceeded with the Johor supplier.

Two days later, we returned with all the necessary spare parts. During the repair, we discovered additional issues—most of the CAT5e cables had deteriorated over time due to poor quality. Fortunately, we had replacements ready, and after a full day of swapping cables, replacing parts, and reprogramming the system, our team successfully brought the screen back to life.

Although it was our first experience repairing a Linsn controller card, it turned into a valuable learning opportunity. A big shoutout to my dedicated team for their determination, quick thinking, and willingness to take on the challenge.

Yesterday, we received an urgent morning call from a customer requesting immediate assistance to repair their 8-year-old LED indoor screen. The situation was critical, as the screen was needed for their company’s annual agenda meeting scheduled for the following morning.

Despite the location being nearly 2.5 hours away and heavy rain slowing traffic, our dedicated team quickly prepared. Knowing the brand and its components from a previous repair, we ensured we packed all the necessary spare parts before heading out.



We arrived on-site around 6 PM and immediately began diagnosing the issue. After thorough troubleshooting, we identified the problem: a malfunctioning receiving card. Thanks to our preparation, we had the exact replacement part ready and worked swiftly to restore the screen. By the time everything was settled, it was 9 PM.


Our team’s commitment and expertise ensured the screen was back in perfect working condition, meeting the tight deadline.

During the repair, we noticed signs of an unstable electrical power source, which we suspect caused the issue. We advised the user to replace the power supply as a preventive measure, as prolonged instability could lead to further problems. Download and install LEDStudio (Linsn LED control software) from the official Linsn website.
Ensure your LED sending card & receiving card are properly connected to your PC.

2. Load the RCG & CON Files
RCG File: Stores the receiving card settings (screen mapping, module configuration).
CON File: Stores the display configuration (brightness, refresh rate, color settings).
Open LEDStudio, navigate to "Load RCG File" and select the correct file for your LED module.
Similarly, load the CON file under "Load Configuration File."



3. Adjust Screen Mapping & Panel Settings
Go to "Screen Settings" → "Receiving Card" → "Mapping Mode."
Arrange the LED panels according to the actual physical layout of the LED screen.
If the display appears disoriented, adjust the scan mode, width, and height settings.
