If you’re looking for a budget monthly 5G plan, Yes 5G has revealed a cheaper FT5G 20 prepaid that offers a generous 50GB of data for only RM20/month. That’s equivalent to 40 sen per GB.

In case you can’t finish your data quota, the plan even offers data rollover, allowing you to carry forward unused data to the following month.

The Yes Prepaid 5G 20 plan costs RM20/month and it comes with 50GB of 5G and 4G data quota that comes with uncapped speed.

In addition, this 50GB quota can be utilised for hotspot usage and the plan still comes with unlimited calls.

According to the FAQ, the unlimited calls are for both on-net and off-net usage.

On the footnote, it is mentioned that you can carry over your unused data to the next month with the same add-on purchase before the service expiry date.

However, there are no further data rollover details in the add-on T&C.

As a comparison, the popular FT5G Unlimited plan at RM30/month offers unlimited 5G and 4G data but it gets a limited 12GB of hotspot quota that’s shared for 4G and 5G.

The speeds for 5G are uncapped but if the network drops to 4G, the speed is capped at 7Mbps.

However, if you enable Autopay with a saved payment card, you can get an extra RM5/month rebate, brining down the monthly subscription cost to RM25/month.

The new Yes Prepaid FT5G 20 plan can be subscribed via the Yes Online store and MyYes app, or you can sign up at a Yes Store and Yes Authorised dealer.

For more info, you can visit the Yes 5G Prepaid page.

Previously RM20 (RM5 off with autopay)
One get 20GB data.

Now no more RM5 off, get 50GB. Which is ok actually.

But no more Yes Databack via Shopee.

Hmm, RM20/month for YES or RM25/month for Digi/Hotlink? (like is the extra RM5 worth it for Digi/Hotlink 4G coverage?)

But..................coverage getting worse.

At my condo cant even get a decent speed.
Even at roadside mamak (inside stall) scan QR to pay also not line.
Need to take photo then stand outside to get signal.

The only reason ayam still using this Yes is because ayam bought RM1 only during their promo in Shopee few years ago.
Boughted many cards just pop in new card activate and throw after 1 month.

Cheapest with unlimited calls to every network unless you look out for obscure mvno like beone (ktard somehow heard about but hard to find dealer)

There is rm15 plan on yes but much less value and no calls. Old Digi next plan had also (next15) no 5g and no calls

Maybe ytl only refer to pantas plan which is not selling but still available plan.
Latest hotlink 1.0 plan, got 5g access. No speed cap it seems

But 20g useable on 5g network only. So remaining 20g effective useable only on 4g phones
If got 5g phones can use up all of 40gb

The hidden agenda is "30 days validity".

We still have to reload RM30 to get 30 days "account/line/SIM card" validity.

Cannot continue to use RM20 plan because only 20 days "account/line/SIM card" validity. On day 21, the line will be "barred".

This is the danger of "PRE-paid" plans. It will always be the hidden agenda on the "account/line/SIM card" validity.

Can just reload RM20 for 40 days validity, which can fully use the whole month's plan. Only YTL gives you double the validity for reloads.

You only have to deal with validity if buying the ft5g 20 plan using existing yes credit ... ex: if you have existing rm5 credit, so reload rm15 to get 30 days validity and then buy the plan using yes credit ...

As ahlong0180 already mentioned, reloading comes with 2x validity and if you are paying for ft5g 20 plan using other than yes credit then it also comes with its own 40 days validity ...

If I reload RM20, meaning my validity is 40 days, right? So, there isn't any issue if I reload RM20 and purchase FT5G 20 plan for 30days usage, correct?

Seems like this may be the most affordable Prepaid Plan that allows you to use whole quota for Hotspot since Unifi Bebas. Will look into getting this just for Hotspot if I need it.

Restart the mobile, or put it into flight mode for at least 10 seconds then turn off the flight mode to try again

Worst case is to unplug the SIM and put it back

I experience all 3 above before when switching the plan in YES

You have to renew the plan before it expires.

Also at this point I might just port out or cease top ups because how unreliable it is.

Sometimes when I drop from 5G to 4G, I lose all data connectivity.

Seems to only happen on Yes, not on Maxis.

Tested this SIM on 70mai 4G Kits for weeks, I can say that it doesn't work on it.

Just sharing

If you are using autopay, it does not roll over your unused data. You have to renew the plan manually at least 1-2 days before it expires according to the agent.

That's crazy lot of data - I think I will activate it during CNY period when I am not able to use home internet.

Just received their free ‘test drive’ esim for testing. It works well for my suburban area in Cheras on 4G. My (esim) phone can also connect to 5G but my 4G USB modem won’t be.

I think I will order a proper physical sim card to put in my 4G USB wifi for the 50GB/mo package. Won’t be using much outside for traveling based on what I can gather in this forum.

Update:

Just received the actual physical sim to put in my no-name 4G usb modem (for home use).

Speed around 8-12mbps. Still testing around with Band 20/38/40. Found B38 works best in my Cheras area so far.

Worth to mention how I appreciate the Yes app allowing multiple sim management via a dropdown menu. Hotlink app doesn't offer that, which is kinda ridiculous.

Been on this ft5g 2 months. I didn't use much data so already snowballs to 66GB. If I keep renewing monthly, the rollover continues. Is there a maximum cap to rollover?

FT5G 20 seems very cheap plan. But seem like Yes always got complaint of bad line. I remember Umobile last time cheapest prepaid plan with data, but line also not as good as celcom, digi, maxis. Is this still true? or is Yes better now?

Always test using dummy PRE-paid SIM card to know the truth...most probably, the conclusion is "throw the SIM after 30 days usage and never look back at Yeoh Tiong Lay telco..."

Seem like YES takeover DNB. I can make call on all DNB coverage area whether on 4G B28 or 5G N78. The 5G will not drop to 4G while on call.

Probably for areas without Yes native 4G coverage... tried here and calls still won't go through B28
