2018 mini upgrade to latest macOS not laggy?

i also have this mac mini, i bought the refurbished one in 2020 while m1 mac mini was out that time...

i bought this mac mini becos it is the last mac mini with intel processor that can do bootcamp windows...
i bought it becos i still prefer to use windows becos of works reason...

ok je, didn't feel any particular diff...maybe because already laggy from the start

oh same, I still keep this mini because I used to work with Window VM a lot for PCB design
for both work and personal i prefer macOS only use windows when no choice

ic.. ok.. i dun really use macOS so i think i will skip...

still using windows 10 as the main OS on my 2018 mac mini...

but recently bought a new DIY custom PC so no longer using mac mini also....

it does not work on my Hackintosh because it needs T2 chip or Apple Silicon chip.

Hmm, seems like this macOS literally broke Airplay to the HomePod, keep disconnecting every 1-2 minutes

MacBook Airs and Mac mini wifi no longer connects to my Mikrotik APs. But since it's Mikrotik and Wifi in the same sentence, it's probably Mikrotik's fault.

Upgraded iPhones, iPads, HomePods and HomePod minis are OK.

Mine seems ok. Just airplay-ed a 10min Youtube video from Safari (Mac mini) to a HomePod mini stereo pair. The stereo pair is connected via 5Ghz.

restarted my mini again and now it seems to run fine, keeping my fingers crossed

But they have IOS 18.0 problems also while I only have macOS 15.0 problems. One also reported probs with UBNT.

Possible. Intel based Mac will be outdated quite soon or even become vintage products soon…

mikrotik have nice low level features that you can tweak it all the way but damn when the whole house is apple only, it's just a pain.


well, 6 years already, probably give it another 1-2 years then repurpose it as proxmox server

My Mac Mini M2 Pro just received notification to update to macOS 15 Sequoia.
I think I'm gonna hold on for few more days/weeks to see any potential problems could arise.

Before using mirroring, it must turn on Wi-Fi
Else will not proceed.

Blackmagic Disk Speed test done on MacBook Air M1.

• Currently using a 256GB SK Hynix NVME SSD taken from laptop. Not the fastest SSD but not bad.
• Enclosure is USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps which matches the iPhone 16 Pro. Unsure if iPhone 16 Pro is USB 3.1 Gen 2 or USB 3.2 1x2.
• It's magnetic and snaps on very securely onto the back of my iPhone 13 Pro not that I can use it there.
• A short 10Gbps USBC cable is included which can also be used for transferring from old phone to new phone and connecting to computer.
• RTL9210 chipset

this look good, have you tried larger NVME disk with the drive and attaching it to the iPhone?
mine orico enclosure seems to work with smaller capacity NVME drive, but when i plug in my Samsung 970 1TB, it just won't mount it like 9 out of 10 times

But it does not work with iphone 14 series and below right if wan record video and save into external disk.
Even with the Lightning to USB 3 adapter.

Unfortunately not, the only 2230 SSD I have is a 256GB. My 1TB and 2TB 2280s are in Acasis TBT3 enclosures which works fine.

Yeah, I guess won't work since lightning port is USB2 speed of 480Mbps. Probably too slow.
