I am noobie never done this before. haha

Can I change my postpaid to prepaid, do online can? Must go telco center ka?

I am moderate data user, only do tiktok when bored and not at home, because home got unifi.

Is it worth keeping my postpaid RM60 or should I go for cheaper prepaid?

Any cheap prepaid good enough for moderate tiktok use?

Thanks in advance.

Depend on which telco. Some need to go to centre, while some can just call their CS and ask for change. How much data is consider enough for you?

My current package is 16gb, but I use less than 5gb a month.

Mostly just tiktok, email, lite surfing, update apps, etc.

I watch tiktok only, I dont upload.

I only need my unlimited voice call the most, because for work.

Sorry as I misunderstood your question. If you refer to same telco and transfer from Postpaid to Prepaid. Not allow in general. To save time, just port out and port in again.

Digi postpaid can change to Digi prepaid but need do at centre. I suggest you the Celcom Digi Kuning 25 plan. It has unlimited calls and the data is more than enough.

From digi postpaid to digi prepaid, I did it at the digi center. It took about 5 mins per line (I had 3 numbers to convert) and no new sim was given.

Digi prepaid has monthly auto-renew plans, just need to topup and make sure your line has enough $.

Not sure about autopay, but I top up RM30 per line on the 1st of every month to be safe.

I see, if you used up the credit, then call cannot go out right? Can still receive calls?

After top up can re-use? Will not be cut?

What do you use to top up? Credit card? Bank transfer? Cashless app?

The credit is only used to pay for the monthly plan. Local calls are unlimited and my mom/wife/son do not send SMS. Honestly, I’ve never been in that situation, all my 3 lines always have at least RM30-40 credit.

Do check the digi prepaid FAQ or ask the digi CS advisor.

I topup via cc and eWallet, usually.

The last time I was on Digi prepaid if credit totally 0, mobile data will not work. Not sure if that's still the case now. If you subscribe monthly plan, some of those plans already include unlimited call.
Definitely can receive calls when out of credit. As for reload, can use online banking, CC or Debit card.

With same Rm25 on the new prepaid, you get:
- unlimited call.
- 30gb of 4g/5g data.
- 6gb hotspot quota.

The only cons is speed capped to 100mbps.

I see.. so the Celcom Digi Edisi Kuning internet speed will be capped at 100mbps.. but i think if capped to 100mbps, its too slow for 5G..

Well... Celcom Digi 5g is a joke. Only high tear postpaid customer is given uncapped speed. prepaid and lower tear customers are second class.

If you are used to Postpaid convention and prefer Postpaid while keeping your spending low. Can port to CelcomDigi kuning first. Then go to a phone shop not official Celcom or Digi store and change to CelcomDigi Postpaid 30XV. It has 20GB and Unlimited call but sort of not being advertised publicly.

It worth less than the CelcomDigi Kuning RM25 plan but more convenient if you prefer Postpaid and easier to track your spending let's say for tax purposes

Wow, never thought of this, that's like not even 4G, right?

But 100mbps should be enough for most people right? Unless they download big files?

Ya.. that why i said 100mbps for 5G, its too slow because 5G can hit up to 1GBps.. so if Celcomdigi capped the internet speed to 100mbps, then how to utilise the 5G..

Just like buying bmw car with speed can go up to 250kmj, but then realize it got cut off speed at 140kmj only.. better I stick with my current myvi car.. 140kmj can hit, 200kmj also can hit..

hmm, so why they market 5G so much in these plans?

Maybe because new phones all cannot support 4G?

I have noticed that some areas have strong 5G signal but weak 4G. Like my mom's place in the middle of Penang island, I get 2 bars of 4G, but full 4 bars of 5G.

Maybe telcos are pushing 5G because of a govt directive, and maybe because they partly own DNB, and possibly due to 5G network expansion being currently more aggressive than 4G.

Not really. 4g are build by individual telcos. These individual telcos prioritise profit, so they only build infra in places where there is potential. If one telco already build 4g in that area, others will not prioritise the same area to avoid duplication. Hence some places telco x has a good 4g, telco y has bad reception.
As for 5g, DNB builds it and all telcos are force to use the same infra.

I’m just happy that there is full 5G coverage at my mom’s place now. She has no wired broadband at home so with 5G available in excess of 500mbps, she can comfortably use Yes 5G prepaid (rm30).

DNB is an entity wholly owned by MOF and mandated by gov to be the single neutral party to deploy 5G nationwide.

Wow, so they simply deploy 5G infras all over Malaysia using tax money ka?

But who decide where get 5G first and last? Gomen experts? Population density?

Sabah Sarawak and Wilayah too?

Yes, nationwide including Sabah Sarawak. How they decide, the funding etc you can try to google.
