Hello all... going to receive my Leadtek 8800GT soon biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ... just wanna ask...

I'm a newbie at overclocking graphic cards, so what do u fellas use to overclock ur 8800GT? Which software is used? Or flash BIOS better? Cos I heard some ppl say the latest 169.04 drivers don't allow RivaTuner to overclock...
*
That's bull.. 169.04 has broken ATiTool but RivaTuner still works smile.gif

I've been playing with my XFX for a few days now..
still trying to get good clocks..

anyway, i have a few questions though...
i've tried overclocking to 700/2000 on stock fan running at 100% with open case and load temp at 63C (i left my air cond on full blast with full blast fan...hehe) and started artifacting at 1 hour.

Question is, does artifacting mean i've screwed my card?  (I'm worried about screwing my card as it's new).  I bumped it down to stock and ran atitool and it was artifact free for 6 hours.

how do i know my card is screwed?

another question is, where in heck can i get the HR-03 GT?  is it even out yet?
*
The G8x/G9x core is very resilient.. it goes up to 115c (you can check with Nibitor) so it shouldn't be dying at 63c. Artifacting doesn't mean the card is gone. If it's gone, it won't boot. Or all the colors will be wrong. Even so it may just be a case of BIOS corruption, so reflashing the BIOS might save it.

2gb mushkin value ram @ 900mhz 5-5-5-15

Actually 800 at 4-4-4-12 is faster than 900 at 5-5-5-15. You only have a 375MHz bus, why would you need 900 MHz RAM ? smile.gif

From http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=195 :

Latency at 900 Mhz CAS 5 = (5*2000)/900 = 11.11 ns

Latency at 800 MHz CAS 4 = (4*2000)/800 = 10 ns

So if you want to optimize the 375 MHz bus you should run the RAM at 800 MHz 4-4-4-12.
