The thing's like this... I bought a stock o/c'ed MSI and its artifact free etc at the 660/1900 but after some multi hour session of bioshock, it will occasionally just craps out.. freeze there and then.

Anyhow, I initially thought it was the cooling.... so whack fans kau kau. Only doing less than 50C load and each ram chip temps are around 42-45C only.

To make the long story short..I checked with some friends in Nvidia and they said that its a mem issue... that's why so many boards on the market are DOA'ed and there's that sudden red artifact thingy.

Anyway..I reduced my mem to 1800 now. Core and shader can of course whack lar

Qimonda, although it's 1ns, there're numerous report even review sites, that it can't substain 2000Mhz for daily usage, until it comes to irrepairable situation. So better clock down the memory speed. As for core, there's no problem running 7XX provided good cooling keeping the core cool.

Air cooling is good but imagine the 40C+ load temps with a water cooling Lots of fun and chance to overclock further. Metalzone sells almost all water cooling parts.

Well, I believe you need the "Plus" version instead. If it artifacts after some time then it's most likely heat, sometimes due to the core or perhaps memory.

those cheap coolers also enough already... unless u vmod to OC to reach the temperature limit...

hr-03gt is overkill... get accelero s1 for half the price of hr-03gt... i'm using it... load temp at 745core is 53C and idles at 39C..

I have decided not to overclock the ram bcoz my gc version have no heatsink attached to the ram
After tweaking my system... So this is the stable result I could get @ 660/1650/1800 ; Trying at 675 but not stable

U mean the shader can overclock higher than gpu core? I already overclock the ram to 925.. but got artifact... my previous galaxy can hit 950 very easy.. may be due to the heatsink is for the gpu only and the ram is naked... my gc is a big fan version.. might consider to install the ram heatsink... thanks 4 remind me about ati tool.. will use it later

If you're having the 8800GT, you can play almost all games with highest settings at 1650x1050 except for a few.
