Not sure about that, but UTC selangor in Shah Alam will print it for you.

It's such a hassle when you want to rent a car overseas that doesn't requires a IDP. Out of so many good things AL has done, this is a stupid one.

I renewed at a post office last year August 2023 and they still print out the driving license card in hard plastic for me. I'm not sure if the new regulation requires all post offices to stop issuing driving license in physical card format or some post offices still issue them.

When I renewed my driving license last year, the officer asked if I wanted a physical card. I asked if there is additional charge for the card to be printed out and the officer said it's free, so why not take the physical card since it's free. Nowadays everything seems to be going digital and physical cards or papers are being reduced or eliminated completely. In other words, the mobile phone will cover everything.

The trouble with going all digital is that rental services usually require a photocopy of your license…. So how to give?

The JPJ branch at Petaling Jaya near Amcorp mall, no longer issues physical lesen in card form. I went to renew last Friday, only got it refreshed on the MyJPJ app🤦🏽‍♂️🫨

Did you try the JPJ UTC at Shah Alam before going to Padang Jawa? I’m looking for a physical card for international driving purposes as well

how many years do u guys renew? rm30 per year while 9 years and 10 years same price at rm270....

Heard only JPJ Wangsa Maju is able to produce the physical driving license at a fee. Can't remember RM20 or RM30. Most now opt for the digital license but some prefer to get the physical license for IDP.

digital ma. Why u need the physical card and if JPJ stop you they have system to check. Many years ago police stop me I said I didn't bring my license . The police make a call they also can verify my driving license validity

I straight renew 10 years. I remember it’s cheaper abit

Update: only received slip instead of plastic card. This WA despite showing them the hotel booking details. Done shoot complaint to sispaa and see how it goes. Also will loop in Ah Loke if there is no resolution from sispaa

Permohonan Permit Memandu Antarabangsa (IDP- International Driving Permit) boleh dibuat di mana-mana pejabat JPJ Negeri/Cawangan atau di pejabat Persatuan Automobil Malaysia (AAM).





Kelayakan bagi permohonan IDP:



a.Memiliki Lesen Memandu Kompeten (CDL) yang masih berkuatkuasa melebihi 1 tahun

b.Pemilik tidak disenaraihitamkan

c.Tempoh IDP adalah 1 tahun sahaja"MALAYSIA MADANI"





Dokumen yang diperlukan:



a.Pengenalan Diri asal / salinan

b.Pengenalan Diri asal sekiranya urusniaga dibuat oleh wakil

c.Lesen Memandu Kompeten (CDL)

Get yr physical card at the main JPJ offices, bring along proof of overseas travel such as air tickets, hotel bookings.

Went to JPJ putrajaya today at around 11am. Had to install their app...JPJeQ to get a que number...still can get number...but there were abt 50 numbers ahead of me. But was out of there by ard 1pm.

Note that this is ramadhan time ya. Normal days may differ

Went there coz i wanted to do the physical card and also IDP as ill be travelling. 

For idp they need my picture n photocopy ic...these can be done at the insurance shop on the ground floor (rm11). Idp costs rm150

For physical card, I printed out my flight ticket n handed them together with the form which u get at the reception. Weird thing is, they used the same pic for idp for my physical card. This picture is diff from myjpj app n wont update. Ask them they said pic is from ic n its ok for the pic to be diff...hentam sajalaaaa...this cost rm270 for 10 years... U get rm30.discount if u renew 10yrs hence rm270

for IDP application, other than passport sized photo and ic photocopy, anything else needed?

Just a simple form you have to fill out which you can get at the entrance

actually i think the form might be for the IDP and not the driving license card.

i did all at the same time so i just handed in everything to the officer.

Or a young uncle who intends to travel and drive in a foreign country that doesn't recognize our MyJPJ app.

Just sharing that I got mine at JPj Padang Jawa this morning. Need to show proof that you r travelling.  Last month I did msg jpj negeri selangor via fb messenger to ask if there is stock. Was told piority given to those who r driving overseas. Provide evidence like flight ticket or document keluar negara. I asked is document keluar negara passport or visa. Was told visa. Anyways these were what i presented to officer - hotel booking in SG, my US visa and company email on a upcoming workshop which flight tickets have not been purchased. However, was told to provide a copy of IC. Didnt have one on me so had to go photocoy there and paid rm1.60. All worth it coz i got the physical driver license. 😀

Got mine on 2 Mei 2025 at Wangsa Maju.

Brought supporting docs: Agoda hotel booking, TM2 immigration form (Thailand), scanned copies of IC and old license just in case.

Must have JPJEQ app. Some unlucky people had to download there and then.

JPJEQ was offline for 20 mins so everyone on my Q was worried. Luckily it went back online.

JPJEQ had 99+ num giliran ahead of me. They said maybe come back after lunch at 2:45pm (mind you, it was only 10:30am that time). Luckily they changed their strategy and told us to Q at this special line consisting of people strictly wanting to have physical driving license.

Got mine around 11:30am.

Took 10 years RM270. They take credit card including Amex. New license says expiring 2035. The old one expiring 4 Mei 2025.

They don’t take the old license. So at home just keep somewhere and make sure only current one in my wallet.

Yeah, key point is to err on the side of caution in case they asked for something you’re not prepared for. So bring as many supporting docs as possible. It’s quite a hassle to go to only selected few JPJ (take annual leave, driving, parking, most of these branches don’t have LRT lines nearby also).

What if my license only expire a few months after my trip. Can I still get a physical driving licence? Do they ask for return flight?

Try the padang jawa or wangsa maju big outlets.
and also bring along a hotel booking confirmation in addition to the flight ticket, to lessen the risk of rejection.
