QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jul 21 2025, 06:17 PM) I mentioned those name not because of their availability. I mentioned them to show you we are paying over the odds. If Pedro's stats is so so, so is Ekitike's. The latter played with a better team too (3rd in Bundesliga whereas the former played for mid table team). Let's not forget the strength of the league as well. and since when we play with a 9 anyway? Yes Wirtz was overpriced as well but at least he has won something and proven himself for a number of seasons. Ekitike only have 1 good season. The season before he only scored 4 goals. I asked for those which are available for purchase. What is the use of those who are not available? We are not playing fantasy footie! Where was Eintracht the previous season? Maybe it's Etitike's contribution that brought them to 3rd? How did Pedro contribute to Brighton's poor standing? Maybe Slot wants a N0.9? Why would they ne looking at No.9s in both Isak and Etitike?

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jul 21 2025, 07:02 PM) The mention of names, as i have repeatedly mentioned, is just to show the high price. No one is playing fantasy footie here. If you insist on a name, then Sesko. He has better stats and younger too. And wow for the bold part, clearly you dont follow Bundesliga. Anyway, Ekitike's deal is done deal as reported by multiple sources moments ago. i am wondering why no big clubs have not come in for Sesko? Any reason? Clearly you missed out that Eintracht was 6th the season before.

QUOTE(ry8128 @ Jul 28 2025, 09:09 AM) I thought he rejected contract renewal? Have rumors of lfc trying to renew his contract before this. QUOTE Liverpool reluctantly decided to sell the popular player as part of a summer reboot of their forward line, having twice offered a new contract to a player who arrived from Porto in January 2022. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/j...0January%202022. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/footb...aining-32147282QUOTE Diaz's exit comes after two separate attempts by Liverpool to agree on a contract extension failed. There was a gap between the offer put forward by the Reds and the demands from the player’s camp.
Diaz had an initially wanted to stay on Merseyside and was hopeful of a new deal at the end of last season. However the Reds decided that with two years left on the 28-year-old’s current terms, agreed when he joined the club in January 2022, there was no rush on discussions on an improved deal.

QUOTE(lat @ Aug 11 2025, 01:10 AM) Same role as Hendo, recycles the ball, short passes to the left right, quick one-two, cover rb, etc. He is not a box-to-box or advanced midfielder. I bet his passing stats/ passing accuracy is good. 100% passes completed last night. You can only do what the Boss tells ya to do. Some players are not appreciated. Anyway, it is a pre season game. No one ever loses the Premier League by losing the Community Shield.

QUOTE(carmensandiego @ Dec 10 2025, 01:35 PM) the only reason Slot is still in a job after the most dismal run of form since the 50's is because there was no other world class manager out there available to replace him. Gerrard was a romantics choice as an interim replacement which probably was a bad decision, and getting klopp back even as an interim solution was not something klopp would have agreed to anyways. Tonight's City/Madrid game might get Xabi Alonso sacked, and as soon as he becomes available, Slot might not have it so easy anymore if results don't turn around. Sorry. i thought he won the League a few months back.

QUOTE(carmensandiego @ Dec 10 2025, 02:45 PM) He won the league, by not doing anything. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Did he bring his own formation or new tactics to the team - hardly. Were there new players he needed to get in to adapt to the team - no, even chiesa was barely in the team.
He basically jumped into a A380 that was cruising at attitude, left it at auto pilot and won us the title. Granted, we have to thank Arsenal and Manchester City for having a massive dip of form at the same time.
But the cracks were showing. There were two BIG games where his tactics and knowledge and management skills were desperately needed. At home to PSG, and also the League Cup final against Newcastle. These two games was where he was found out to be lacking.
And players, especially elite players like Salah know when to look up to a Manager who knows what he is doing, and one who does not. Before these two games, Salah was firing on all cylinders, gunning for the Balon D'or. Even with the PSG defeat and being out of the CL, Salah would have still been a favorite if he has continued his form all the way till the end of the season. This did not happen. And it was not just Salah, the whole team, the malaise for LFC did not start this season, it started last season.
The early form, and luck, and the Jota factor drove us for the first few games on this season. The Isak situation did not help, but we still won ugly, late goals covered up the cracks. The silly transfer window where we replaced players who worked hard like Diaz, Nunez, even Elliot just never made any sense.
Getting so many new players in, and still playing a system that was still essentially the system Klopp built up from scratch - a system that desperately needs players to work hard, and press high and chase down every ball - with new players is not easy, but Slot just stuck with it, throwing square pegs in round holds, and just hoping it works is the ethos of a manager who is severely out of depth, trying to play a system that was never his to begin with. Hmmm....would Moyes have won without doing anything? And you would sack a manager who just won the League in his 1st season a few months back due to this poor run?
