With 2 signings this window so far, how do u rate our window? There are rumours that there might be a 3rd signing aka replacement for robo. If true, it will be good yo.

Last minute hijack failed by Barca, due to their financial woes, as La Liga got salary cap, so Bajcetic may not be able to register into the squad.

Only Chiesa can be considered bolstering the squad. Giorgi is on loan elsewhere. Jaros is replacing Adrian.

Pretty flat window so far. Should sign at least 1 CB to replace Matip and a natural No. 6.

Not easy. Was happy to see our away pot 1 is RB, but then end up home is Madrid. Toughest pot 2 opponents we get, and pot 3 and 4 are strong teams too.

Bad thing is it's hard to qualify.
Good thing is all matches gonna be very interesting and worth to watch.

The A.I. computer draw seem like pretty much programmed. Very smooth.. Good draw anyway.

Again, not against the Chiesa signing but is the attack where we need strengthening?
We've won 2 games with Grav as our 6 with Macca and Szobo but I feel against better teams (no disrespect to Ipswich and Brentford) we will need Endo or a specialist DM playing. That has not been addressed and Endo hasn't made it off the bench either.
And at 10mil let's not kid ourselves, this is a calculated risk that we can afford to take. We wouldn't have signed him if he was above 15mil I'm sure. So was it a tactical or business decision? Is he better than Salah Jota Gakpo Diaz or even Darwin?
Anyway I wish him well, from his unveiling he seems genuinely happy to be here. Hope all works out well.

Assuming he is fit, he is much better than all of our attackers except salah.

But agree with your statement that attack is not where we need reinforcement now. Maybe the board see this as a superb bargain buy and so get him in first and gamble since it's a very low risk gamble with potential of a very big win.

Who knows, if salah is leaving next year, we might need to spend at least 5x the cost of chiesa to get a replacement. And if chiesa can indeed stay fit, then the money can go to other area.

Looks more like a continuity plan by the management. You can see reason why they buy new goalkeeper and now this.

Actually with the new CL system, it's much easier to qualify. Only 12 of the 36 teams gets knocked out directly. Meaning only....bottom 3 of each league? Top 2 goes directly into Round of 16, others into a playoff, which means another chance.

Personally, I prefer the old system, sometimes you see a big team get the 4th spot and kicked out straight, which was funny when it happened to others though not when it happened to Pool tongue.gif There's much less jeopardy now.

ya its easier to qualify...if u finish 1st to 8th...
but also means playing more matches...and more money for uefa.
cos 1st to 8th still ok...even tho need play 2 extra games instead of 6 total in previous format...
but 9th to 24th especially gonna sux cos need to play total of 10 matches to reach rnd of 16.

Not necessary easier to qualify, if bad luck like PSG, potential facing all tops teams from pot 1-4...

Under old format, we could 100% avoid top teams from pot 1, but now we gonna face RMadrid in early stage...

But now much entertaining from us fans' perspective as we get to watch matches against 8 different opponents, instead of previous only 3 (home & away)...

Arne Slot's pre-match press conference vs Manchester United:

New signings
QUOTE
Of course we are happy with the ones we signed because I said many times that it's difficult for us to make the team even stronger because we already have a very strong team. And if we then find them, of course we are very happy with that. Chiesa is someone who can help us for the short term and Mamardashvili is, I think, one of the examples where this club did in the past very good that they look also at the future, long-term future of the club – and that's why we signed him.

Further signings before deadline
QUOTE
“I’m not expecting anything, but again, it’s no different to all the other days before,” the Dutchman explained.

“If we see an opportunity, we could act. But I’m not expecting anything.”

Caoimhin Kelleher
QUOTE
“Maybe, but we have to make decisions as well. It’s not only the player,” he told reporters in his pre-Man United press conference.

“If you work at a club like Liverpool you need competition and we need a lot of good players.

“Mamardashvili is someone for the long future of the club, and I’m really, really happy with the goalkeepers we have at the moment.

“Caoimh is one of them, like Vit [Jaros] and Ali. We’re in a good place when it comes to goalkeepers for now and for the long term.”

Manchester United
QUOTE
Some of them tried to tell me a few things about it, but I don't think that's really necessary. If you're starting to work at Liverpool, everybody knows, every player that comes in knows and every manager that comes in knows how important the game against United is. It's similar to when you work at Feyenoord, how big the game against Ajax is. People tell you, of course, but it's not really necessary because if you follow the game of football, which I do for a long time, you know the importance of Liverpool against United or United against Liverpool.

Federico Chiesa
QUOTE
“Excited [to have signed him], if we sign someone who can help us achieve our goals and improve the squad, of course we are really excited that we brought him in.

“One of the best things about working here, what I’ve noticed so far, is the culture of this team, they work really hard to achieve their goals.

“It is then really important the first player you bring in has that same attitude and brings the same culture.

“He works really hard on and off the pitch to try to get the best of himself, and he combines this with scoring goals and really aggressive without the ball.

“He can play in so many positions, on the right, left and maybe even in the middle. It makes him an interesting signing for us.

“We should take care of him in the beginning because he didn’t train with the team (Juventus) in the last two weeks, but before he did.

“He hasn’t played many game minutes yet, but we have very good performance staff, and we will build him up in the right way and, hopefully, can see his quality in the near future.”

QUOTE
It wouldn't be the first time the English media overexaggerate! I think it is true he had a long-term injury with his ACL, but for the rest I don't think he had big injuries. Minor injuries like every other player maybe. We have a lot of trust in our performance staff and the good thing is he is not the only winger we have: he is one out of four, where some others can play in that position as well. If he is not available at certain moments – not only with him, also the others – then there is still enough players for me to choose.
