As per title, if inside the tenancy agreement nowhere did it mentioned that the tenant need to inform the owner before leaving (leaving because contract only 1 year), can the owner forfeit the deposit?

The contract that was formed was only for 1 year, and now after 1 year when we want to leave, the owner was shocked and said we never informed and she just assumed we going to extend it.

We are the one that thought its stated in the contract its for 1 year, and nowhere in the tenancy agreement said that we should inform her before moving out once our contract finished.
Do you guys think in this case I should fight for the deposit or let it burn?

We initially thought want to extend too, but didn't tell her because waiting for our placement. Now once the placement out we really need to move out. If we suddenly need to extend but the owner said can't then we understand and we still move out since its in the agreement.

In the tenancy did mentioned if plan for extension, need to inform the owner 60 days prior the end of the contract, which we didn't do
