Most of the taxi drivers in Hong Kong are psycho. They spend almost every second inside the taxi every day complaining. Quite detached from the society and real life as listening to the radio is the only window towards real life. They also only interacted with their own unhealthy circle where they will only talk about passengers behind their back with other bad taxi drivers.
In this video for example, the driver clearly don’t have other civilized social skill to express his anger but allowing himself going to the extreme by threatening the customer/passenger with a weapon. This is why Uber is more being accepted by the local residents as the price between the two doesn’t have big difference but with much much better service from Uber.

uber is gone from south east asia because grab churned out more vouchers to customer last time, basically killed your competitors

In 2013 and 2014, Grab entered the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, each time beating Uber by a few months. Its aggressive use of consumer promotions and provider incentives, however, drained much of the US$85.3 million that it had raised. To continue its growth, Grab drew US$250 million in funding from Softbank in a relatively early large-scale investment.

our money is too small to make any profit.

especially when u are operating out of sg.... salary also more expensive there.

took uber from stockholm arlanda to office.. 800 kronors.. about rm 400 here.

took uber from riyadh airport to hotel... 120 saudi riyals.. about rm 150 here..

in malaysia grab car plus only charge rm 75++ from city to airport..

it doesn't matter
global economics is pay at local currency

e.g.
red bull in malaysia RM3.50
red bull in vietnam (after convert) RM1.00 margin still better than malaysia
why?

it is all about volume, business plan and business model
the currency is irrelevant.

yes la

they were slashing prices left right centre

then came Softbank big boss say fuck you Malaysia and Singapore, commands Uber to move out and let Grab raise back prices.

The more the country protect their taxi permit, the more they get screwed by e hailing.

Bangkok traditional taxi still survive due to open competition.
