So the 992.2 is out... and to say the least, it's quite divisive, if the comments and posts over at the Porsche forums (eg Rennlist) are to be believed.

Coming from a 992.1 GTS owner, I am actually very happy that I pulled the trigger and didn't wait for the new face lift.

I'd take my car's looks over the new one any day.

And, yes, while the facelift is faster and more powerful (every facelift will be), I already have enough trouble finding places where I can fully unleash the 480hp on tap without losing my licence, so I can't imagine what an extra string (yes, that's actually the correct collective noun in use here) of ponies in the stable would do to my attempts to hang on to my driver's.

What do you guys think? Do you like the new vertical flaps on the front valance/apron? And do you prefer the centrally placed exhausts or the wider spaced items?

Small change of looks doesn't really matter

Still the BEST car in the world - ever!

Beautiful car, I really like how it looks. But seems it's gone up in price yet again? Looking more and more likely that this dream car will just stay a dream.

My main gripes about the new 992.2 are:

1. Loss of the analogue tachometer... it's a Porsche 911 classic. Now it's generic like the new Macan, Panamera & Cayenne, and of course, the Taycan
2. Loss of the keyfob ... now it's like any BMW or Merc's push start button
3. Those vertical active aero flaps make the car's front look droopy... if they made it horizontal, it would have been so much nicer (like the non-Sport's design 992.1 Carrera & Carrera S)
4. The hybridization doesn't help with range & emissions that much ... and makes servicing the battery & motors a nightmare. Porsches are supposed to be simple to service!

This is actually the first Porsche 911 which hasn't taken my breath away at first look. The 991.1 & 991.2 as well as the 992.1 were in my eyes, achingly beautiful... this one will need sometime for me (IMVHO) get used to...

Porsches always do that. Every year, they increase at least 8 - 10% of the previous years' MSRP.

I paid a shade under AUD400,000 for mine in 2023. The same specs (or as close to the same specs as the new 992.2 would allow me to configure) costs nearly AUD440,000

- Cant do anything about this, digital meter will come sooner or later.  Look at the new Macan EV  puke.gif

2. Loss of the keyfob ... now it's like any BMW or Merc's push start button
- Damn, this is unacceptable as this will take away the emotion towards the car

3. Those vertical active aero flaps make the car's front look droopy... if they made it horizontal, it would have been so much nicer (like the non-Sport's design 992.1 Carrera & Carrera S)
- Nah 992.1 are definitely better looking

4. The hybridization doesn't help with range & emissions that much ... and makes servicing the battery & motors a nightmare. Porsches are supposed to be simple to service!
- Exactly!

- Agree, hard to sleep at night looking at the aero flaps

I always dream of owning 911, so far 992.1 is the best looking 911, the turbo and the 4s!

Most important question;
Have they made the headlights harder to knick, or are they still easy pickings for indoor ganja farmers?

That’s apparently a Taycan problem more than a 911’s …. For now haha

As a 992 Carrera S owner, I too am glad I'm with this generation. I like my start dial, manual tach and am not a fan of the front end (even in the non GTS without the vertical gills). It'll help with the resale value should I ever (heaven forbid) be tempted to upgrade.

... I guess that means if I was offered the new GTS I certainly wouldn't turn it down...

Absolutely, my C2S is the daily drive. It’s sad that all it does is go basically go from PJ to KL but such is the curse of the gainfully employed. I did get a chance to bring it to a work retreat up Genting. Wet twisty steep roads are immense fun.

Good thing I was alone as the wife would certainly have left her fingernails in the upholstery.

Just out of curiosity, how many kilometres does she have on the clock?

Mine is a pathetic 600km since delivery July 2023. She’s a veritable garage queen.

And if it’s not too much to ask, please share some photos of your baby with us when you have time. It’s so refreshing to meet another 992 owner.

Here are a couple of photos of mine:

At the Porsche centre, getting my personalized licence plate fitted. I swapped out the black badges with caliper red items at the same time as I did the full PPF

At Bunnings, the hardware store, picking up supplies for our house in Sydney. The 992 is really an everyday car - this is with the Matrix LED lights still on

And just before they auto turn off, they have these nice spoke patterns that I never get tired of:

I agree with you. I don’t have an instant “urgh no” reaction to the new 992.2 morning the same way as I did (and still do) with the new BMW XM or BMW 7 so I may still warm towards Porsche’s new offerings.

It’s just that I didn’t get the same flutter in my heart on first sight as I did with the 992.1. IMVHO, the 992.1 GTS with the sports design valance is an instant classic Porsche look.

Damm mate, you need to go for long drives on Aussie highways with it

Do Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide, or Sydney - Gold Coast ...

I’ve done Sydney to Tassie and back, but that was with my Cayenne. The 911 is, erm, surplus needs haha.
