I find that if I reply to the post where the last post is posted by me, my latest post will only be added to the post. It does not even updated in the main forum that I had posted something new. I think that will make the posts go unread as people tends to see the last updated by and its date to open and read the posts..... It's probably good to put in the same post but I don't think people will like to read through a previous post.... They might not even realise that there is a newly added part if the date in the main(where they see the topic) is updated.

That option box will only appear when you are adding consecutive reply.

Example, you posted on 3rd post. You wants to add a new status on post 4.
That option box will appear.
A posted, A posted (it will appear)

That option box will not appear if there is some post by other peoples in between post 3 and post 4.
A posted, B posted, A posted. (it won't appear)
