What would be a typical price for having a Malaysian will drawn up by a well-established, trustworthy solicitor? Nothing complicated about it - no trusts or anything like that, only covering local assets.

Simple will, can be done free. Just follow the format. But make sure need 2 witness that are not beneficiary. It's still a valid will. But if you have lots of assets and complicated beneficiaries, better pay a lawyer to minimise complications in case later someone challenges the will.

u can even ask a retired lawyer friend(if u have one) to do it for you
some retired lawyer do this as side business

the whole thing about will is that is only makes the process a little easier and faster, it doesn't really change much of the process and it's fees at the end

Well established solicitors generally won't do something as simple as a will, unless it's an extremely complex will pertaining to the distribution of assets or duties of the executor(s), unless you're paying way above market rate

As for other regular lawyers, charges from RM500-RM1k on average, for a simple will.

think about it
no firm can grow so big by doing 1 business...no lawyer firms ever rely or just offer doing wills as their service
no funeral parlour ever grow big by doing funeral service alone....nirvana got so big because they're a real estate company, not a funeral parlour

From what i gathered. writing a will is cheap but they end up being the executor holding everything and take a percentage cut from everything. The only good thing is they handle everything. the bad is they charge for everything.
