Anyone use fork that cost around RM70 (Shopee) before ?? I going to replace my damage fork so I like to know if the fork with that price usually last how long before the spring lost it's stiffness and effectiveness ?? 1 year at least ?? How fork like this compare to branded fork such as Tobaki (Shopee RM120+-) or Kayaba (Shopee RM160 ++) beside the warranty availability ??

QUOTE(taitianhin @ May 21 2024, 10:47 AM) I was abt to reply this too....haha That's why I looking for the answer from someone who use those fork before not simply from just any body because from paper the costly one should perform better but how much better ?? Is it really worth the price or customer actually pay for the brand (think about normal shoe vs nike) and the warranty. The cheap one has no warranty whatsoever.Btw TS, is all abt the branding and build. We wouldnt know how good the things is unless someone try on it QUOTE(COOLPINK @ May 21 2024, 10:47 AM) Any reason for that ?? |

QUOTE(Anubis77 @ May 21 2024, 12:20 PM) My only asnwer is.... we all eat out at mamak, kopitiam, normal restaurants etc.... dont think they will splurge on cutlery like RM100 on a fork... and we ok je Yeah I get what you mean but I just wondering if the RM120 fork will really last much longer (spring inside take much longer time to lose it's stiffness). And a fork is a fork.. even if its made out of gold or titanium.. usage is the same.. doubt there will be any difference. unless you have severe allergy to steel or some common fork material.... Expensive cutlery is more shiok sendiri (or wanna show off) if you ask me... Worst case.... even if you spend RM120 for a fork, no one will know and no one will care. lol Guess I have to use both to find out the answer myself. |

there are reasons why they are cheap, one of it they can be rejects from branded factory so they get them for free or below cost as scraps maybe you can have issues, maybe you won't I've used a RM60 fork with very good results, but ymmv bluecat68 liked this post

Already replace fork oil and testing my new OEM RM70 cheap fork for 2 days and this is so far what I got.
1. Drain out the existing darken oil yesterday and test with cheap Apido RM6 fork oil (Shopee include shipping) but the result not that satisfying so I redo the whole thing today using slightly better 15W Faito fork oil (RM23 from spare part shop nearby) and start with 50ML/fork see how the fork response when I go work later. ![]() ![]() 2. My old seriously damage Tobaki fork ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. Tobaki vs Cheap fork spring ![]() 4. This cheap fork build quality definitely bit low. The cover it use is just some very soft type of thing and could easily come out. ![]() 5. Also fork did come with faulty issue the very moment it arrived. One of the fork bottom screw not working properly, can't tighten or loosen no matter what. Another example of "Cheap thing no good thing". No more cheap fork for me. Next fork will definitely go KYB. ![]() That's it for now. Later will go test to see how the fork react to 50ML fork oil, the spring is definitely not stiff enough to begin with, another reason why it is cheap. a few things you're not doing right, try search the net for guides and tools you need: - that's not how you open a fork tube - if you can't open a fork tube, then you cannot inspect the most important component in the fork which is the damping rod - cheap doesn't mean bad, I would take a closer look between Apido vs Faito 15wt differently - thickness, lubricity, foaming characteristics, etc - I'm using 25wt Motul fork oil in my RM60 forks (yes, the oil is about the same price as the forks) - 50ml is definitely not enough, I don't measure fork oil by volume, but by depth level... see the back of Apido bottle, it carries some information you can use bluecat68 liked this post

QUOTE(alexei @ Jun 10 2024, 10:46 AM) a few things you're not doing right, try search the net for guides and tools you need: 1. I don't get what you mean by "that's not how you open a fork tube". Just use the correct size allen key to open the cap on the top and I did just that, how wrong is that ??- that's not how you open a fork tube - if you can't open a fork tube, then you cannot inspect the most important component in the fork which is the damping rod - cheap doesn't mean bad, I would take a closer look between Apido vs Faito 15wt differently - thickness, lubricity, foaming characteristics, etc - I'm using 25wt Motul fork oil in my RM60 forks (yes, the oil is about the same price as the forks) - 50ml is definitely not enough, I don't measure fork oil by volume, but by depth level... see the back of Apido bottle, it carries some information you can use 2. Yeah I need the damper rod hold tool to hold the damper rod inside to tighten/loosen the bottom bolt but I decide to just order a new fork set and return this one. How the seller deliver this set of fork to me when both fork's damper rod are not tighten properly is beyond me and I don't think I wanna spend extra money on a tool to pay the price for their mistake. 3. Yeah it's about 57ml by recommendation but that vary depend the weight of the main user and how the vehicle to be use / ride but I just leave it that way since I going to return it and install a new fork tomorrow anyway which already arrive today. 4. Did both Apido / Faito give any useful info about the oil ?? Guess not. I don't remember I saw any kind of reading in Apido bottle and same to Faito if I not mistaken. Already return the 1st fork set and call me bad luck because this 2nd order also has issues.
1. Spring too short hence not enough power to fully bounce back the fork properly. 2. Top cap bolt bigger than usual causing it impossible to fully fit inside the steering stem. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So I have to order another set and return this one. Nice. Looks like I finally answer my own question for this thread. Order 3 budget fork but all has problem so have to return while not willing to waste any more time dealing with the fork issue so go Tobaki again. RM45 more expensive but I rather to pay more than purchase those budget fork again. ![]() WH4CockcooBird liked this post
