Timor-Leste faced significant football bans and penalties from AFC and FIFA around 2017 for using Brazilian players with falsified birth/baptism certificates, leading to their expulsion from the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and forfeiture of 29 matches, alongside fines and a ban for their General Secretary. These issues stemmed from using fake documents to claim parentage from East Timor for foreign players, a major integrity breach in football governance.

Key Details of the Ban & Penalties:
The Offense: The Football Federation of Timor-Leste (FFTL) submitted fake birth/baptism certificates for 12 Brazilian-born players to prove their eligibility to play for Timor-Leste.

Investigation: The AFC, in collaboration with FIFA, launched an investigation that confirmed the falsified documents.

Punishments (2017):
Match Forfeitures: All 29 matches where these ineligible players featured were forfeited.

Fines: FFTL was fined $20,000, with a $56,000 penalty suspended for two years.

FIFA Ban: The FFTL General Secretary, Amandio Sarmento, received a three-year ban from football activities for his role in the scandal.

Consequences: Timor-Leste was excluded from the 2023 AFC Asian Cup due to these violations.

Why it Happened:
The scheme aimed to qualify these players for international duty, boosting the national team's competitiveness, but violated FIFA and AFC rules on player eligibility and documentation.

In essence, the "Timor Leste football ban" refers to the serious sanctions imposed for systematic document fraud, impacting their participation in major tournaments and affecting key officials.

Tak sabar tunggu dalang kena ban dari muka bumi bola sepak Malaysia

Benda2 mcm ni biasa libatkan kabel politik/ kabel goverment (secara tak lansung libatkan politik), & aku tak rasa Fifa ada that kind of cable.

My guess, Fifa tau ada hanky panky tp tk tau/ tk boleh pin point specific individu.
