I was thinking of switching to either Digi or maxis postpaid (kind of wanted esim on maxis) but if you're just talking about getting the SIM cards it seems like it's never worth it to go postpaid? Seems like you're paying 4/5x the price for the exact same mobile/data plans with very little extra if you don't care about devices etc or home fibre. Can anyone explain to me why the Telco pricing is so disconnected from one to the other? What is the selling point of postpaid because I really don't get it - you would think you would get better pricing or priority on traffic shaping by locking into a contract but that doesnt seem to be the case.

Based on my experience, prepaid with plans that don’t auto renew is a hassle to manage. Especially when you have multiple lines.

Other than that, postpaid usually has family options and even fibre broadband bundles on offer.

Am now keeping track of and topping up 3 prepaid lines with digi (monthly auto renewals) for my family members and 1 prepaid line with hotlink (non auto renew) for myself. Definitely cheaper than postpaid but not as convenient.

Actually the perks is more towards convenient, no need to remember to topup, can purchase devices or bundle with fibre, and for some plan, roaming advantage.
Imo you do not need to lock into contract, just find those plan that is contract free like Hotlink Postpaid.

There is no marketing sense (in terms of value $$$) of getting postpaid. You pay extra and SST for lesser data. The only thing is the convenience of not having to renew/top-up to keep the number active. Prepaid is at least 2x better in value for the same $$$ paid.

IMHO, I'd go for postpaid if the value offered is the same or better than prepaid.

Prepaid, there is no worry of abuse, once the top-up is zero, calls/data is "stop". Whereas, postpaid it will goes into credit and can rake up thousands $$$. What a hassle, IMHO.

This is prepaid to prepaid, they migrate old legacy plan to new plan just like what Digi did to some of their users.

digicelcom prepaid plan mostly auto-renewable.

Just reload RM100 at one go and you are good for the next 3 months

I’ve always found prepaid to be the better option, mainly because I don’t want to deal with contracts or unexpected charges. I like having full control over my spending and only topping up when necessary. The only downside is remembering to recharge on time, but it’s a small trade-off for the flexibility.

For recharging, I usually go with paynet since it’s quick and supports multiple providers. It’s especially useful when sending balance to family overseas without any hidden fees or long wait times.

Well, it is what we called MONOPOLY or in this case, a DUOPOLY.

Maxis for decades has been the leader, far ahead of Celcom and Digi. They are pretty much unscathed to the point they can charge you whatever they want. Yes, they had the advantage in their network coverage during the initial phase of 4G. So subscribers are locked to their network with their cheap phone offering back then.

Fast forward today, Maxis still continues to lead. Now Celcom and Digi has been fighting for many years to no avail. Hence they have now joined hand and become another Maxis in the making. They do not have to fight each other now, they just have to fight Maxis by offering something similar or slightly cheaper than Maxis.

The other way to go is by going MVNO. OneXOX is one of those example. One family plan where principal line starts at RM39, with each supp line only another RM10. You could have 5 lines in XOX that cost less than 1 Maxis/CelcomDigi principal line.

Now that these 2 big brother are hand in hand raping consumers, UM saw the chance and already start offering newer plans that cost slightly more every now and then.

.... Data deprioritization happens when the network is too busy. Carriers slow down prepaid users first, freeing up the network for others. You may experience patchy connectivity when talking or texting in a busy area. If you want HD video streaming, a prepaid plan may not offer unthrottled streaming as an option. ...

Personally, I'm on Postpaid U38 since 3 months ago = downgraded - was on Postpaid GX50 since Jan 2019.

0~9 got 10digit , normal phone number is 10 then 11 digit , so 012-3456789 = 10 diigit , 012-3456788 = 9 digit , so how many digit is the most popular phone number , which is rare ?
from piers just bought number 012789=6digit , 012356=6digit , current number : 01267=5digit , 01469=5digit

1 of my number : 0158=4digit
other house member number : 01258=5digit , 012369=6digit , 014567=6digit . 014678=6digit , 0123467=7 digit , 0123458=7 digit

so most of phone number is 5 to 7 digit , other maybe can be nice number ?
