I managed to book return flights on Airasia to Kansai International Airport (KIX) for RM750 per person (including luggage, seat charge etc etc), so I'll be going with my girlfriend. Hotel booking was made via Agoda.com.

Still debating whether to go to Mt. Koya or not, as it adds over 1k to the cost of the trip, and only for 1 night. If we decide not to go to Mt. Koya, then the average cost of a hotel room per night is only around RM200 - 250, very reasonable.

All prices in RM, for 2 persons:

4N Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa 997
1N Nara Komachi Guesthouse 265
1N Osaka Chisun Hotel Shinsaibashi 175
1N Mt. Koya temple (estimate) 800
1N Osaka Chisun Hotel Shinsaibashi 175
Accomodation total: 2412 for 7 nights

KUL - KIX Airasia 1468
Train from KIX to Kyoto 1 way 160
Train from Kyoto to Nara 1 way 56
Train from Nara to Osaka 1 way 64
Koyasan World Heritage ticket 226
Train from Osaka to KIX 1 way 72
Long distance transportation total: 2046

going jap for 7 days in may. do you guys think 7 days is too much for Tokyo alone? i'm still thinking to buy the JR railway pass or not. How much is the shinkansen ticket from tokyo to hakone. thanks.

Strongly recommend that you consider day trips to Nikko and Kamakura. Just a couple hours away from Tokyo and lots to see there.

Nikko also has Toshogu Shrine, where Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu was buried. Quite amazing.

Hi forumers... I'm planning a trip for 2 to Japan, either to Tokyo/Osaka; probably around 5D4N... What would be the minimum budget required for expenditure there? Exclude flight tickets though... Thanks!

Hi, I'm about to leave for Japan for a 9D8N holiday and recorded my planned expenses in my blog.

http://hungrybearandcat.blogspot.com/2012/...or-lack-of.html

Estimate is around RM6.5k for 2 persons including all accomodation, transportation and rm80 on food per person per day.

I think Fuji Q Highlands might be a better place to visit than Tokyo Disney, IF you like rollercoasters.

Tokyo Disney quite boring for adults, and its even worse if you dont understand Japanese.

It's damn cold in Kyoto now. Low of -2, high of 7 celcius. Luckily we managed to buy the pocket warmers from a 100 Yen shop. Very useful.

KL - Osaka and return from Tokyo - KL,
i'm planning below for below places:
Osaka 2 days
Kyoto 4 days
Tokyo 4 days
Would you suggest me to go hokkaido as well? or should i slot in places between osaka-tokyo or some places near tokyo?
Thank you~

I strongly recommend 1 day in Nara. Nara is kinda between Kyoto and Osaka, so you can go Kyoto-Nara-Osaka. The Todaiji temple there is a must see.

Don't bother with tour operators la. Very expensive in Japan, better to do your own research and get around by yourself.
