Ok, here's the review for AA flight to Haneda from KL.

Seat was comfortable, just that the arm rest abit smaller than full commercial flight. Leg room was also comfortable. Since I am only 160cm tall.

Flight reached at 10.45pm instead of 10.30pm coz of the windy situation.

Immigration check was fast as there was absolutely no queue when we got into the terminal.

However, I had to wait for about 20mins for my bag to turn up. Maybe because i checked in early and the bag was at the BACK of the plane?

Managed to reached the inn at 1am via monorail & JR train. Phew!!

It's humid, warm and it rained halfway walking to the inn.

Verdict: I think best to visit tokyo during winter, early spring and late autumn.

Heard that the typhoon's coming today!!

hi Shazzac,
I will be visiting Tokyo on Febraury next year. Glad that i see your post here because i am also worry about late arrival at Haneda Airport and i also read elsewhere that flgith from US and other places are also arriving at the same time so will take a bit longer to clear immigration. seems like now that everything went smoothly.

just a question here, is it convenient to purchase the train ticket at the airport to tokyo? i am planning to get suica card but not sure if the counter open at that hour.

Haha.. I also wil be staying at Horidome Villa. Also via AAX. I will not be taking risk by taing monorail & subway combo. I hv bad experience in Seoul also the same problem. AAX arrived ~ 9:30pm. After clearance, I proceeded to AREX train and last time only till the old airport at Gimpo. Once I reached Gimpo ~ 11:30pm. No more subway dy. All stopped! I hv to go up the the old terminal & flagged the taxi there..As KL style, they unwilling to use Meter bcos it's midnite & no other mode of transports..sigh!!

So to play safe, I will take the limousine bus (900yen) to Tokyo inland Terminal just ~ 800M South of Horidome Villa and walk to the hotel

BTW, how much you get for Horidome Villa/nite? Mine RM215 for a small semi double room.
*
hi Stimix.. i got 5000yen for the same room as yours. i think it's almost the same as your price after conversion. wow.. i guess it is very risky to take the train then. and if i happen to miss the last train in one of the main station in the city, i might have to take a cab and it's going to cost me a fortune then., haha. i guess i will follow your option by taking bus to inland terminal. or, another option is to get the airport limo package from airasiago which cost about RM78 per person. they send you directly to the hotel. anyone been using this option before mind to share some experience?

Thanks RegentCid.. i will probably not going to take a cab unless if there is really no choice. Anyway, it's a good information. Will keep it in mind.

Anyway, to Stimix, where did you learn about the 900yen limo bus from haneda to T-CAT terminal?> I am looking at their website and found that there are only 2 possible bus that we might be able to catch that is for 23.15 bus for 800yen and another will be 00.15 bus for 1600yen. I am not sure if we are able to catch the 2315hrs bus?? Will it get full if happen that many international flight arriving at the same time? Just my thought...anyway i guess i am going to skip this option lor.

btw, when is your trip? i'll be going on 21/2/2012.

Strongly recommend that you consider day trips to Nikko and Kamakura. Just a couple hours away from Tokyo and lots to see there.
*
Actually I am having dilemma as whether to choose between Nikko or Hakone too. I love both as each of them offers different experience but I can only choose one because of limited days in Tokyo. So confusing right now..

i think i saw it . The T-CAT is under the flyover right.

http://maps.google.com.my/maps?saddr=%E6%9...z=17&via=1&z=21

but hmm walking at midnight. seems like the road is quite straight but scared get lost niah.
*
just print the map and indicate the main building/landmark that you are going to see on your way. if you happen to get lost, then trace back to find the nearest landmark lor. but i think straight road should not be a problem la. juts follow directly lor.

btw, does anyone know whether we can purchase disneyland ticket in the city in advance? I heard there are loooong queue in the morning to buy ticket at the resort. i dun want to waste time queing.

I'm also going there this coming Mar Holiday for a 7D5N in Tokyo. (Haha.. 2 days spending on plane alone! actual full day of Holidaying only 5days. Flight ticket (RM530/pax return AAX) & Hotels ((RM1075 /5 nites) paid earlier.
I'm budgeting this ground for 3 person:

1) Food (RM200/day/3pax X5 = RM1000
2) Transport - Mostly Subways & buses (RM1000 for 3)
3) Misc souvenirs, entrance & etc (Cash) - RM1,000
4) Expensive entrance (Maybe Disneyland?? / Uniglo/fashions ~ RM500 via Credit card - Still KIV)

So I'm thinking bringing only ~ RM3,500 cash only for this trp  blush.gif ..well can even consider only RM3K  blush.gif  blush.gif
*
actually my budget is also around RM3000 but i will be in Japan for 7 nights. btw, I am not going to stay in Horidome as i worry of not being able to catch the last train and thus booked a capsule hotel near shinagawa, quite close to haneda airport and move to other hotel in taito the next day. in summary, everything on budget.. haha.

You want the RM1K/pax pass when RegebtCid only estimated 5000yen (RM150) for 1 week travel within Tokyo haha..Even I push my budget higher to 7000yen (RM280) bcos wanna go Hakone, & that shogun boss temple & big sitting Buddha biggrin.gif
*
stimix, can i know how you want to get to hakone, kamakura and nikko and budget within 7000yen? are you taking hakone free pass and nikko free pass?

for travel within tokyo, i also budget within 5000yen for 1 week but not inclusive of cost for nikko trip. a return trip to nikko cost about 2000yen from asakusa station using tobu line while a nikko free pass cost around 4400yen and you can travel freely within nikko area using their bus network system.

as for hakone, a 2 day freepass cost around 5000yen from shinjuku station to hakone but taking normal trip to odawara itself already cost more than 3000yen one way.

OMG the queue for Disneyland is so long? I have actually includes Disneyland in one of my day trip to Tokyo but now it seems like I would rather go somewhere else lor. Some more, ticket price is 6200 yen and it is so expensive. A full Hakone Free Pass only cost me 5000yen. Should reconsider now.

Ok , I've checked first page and search "Visa" on this thread but I couldn't if we can ask Travel Agency to apply the Visa for us ?

Ok nvm found it . Hopefully these few documents will settle it - passport , IC , bank statement , payslip , IItinerary .

Is the company certificate really necessary ?
*
if you booked a luxury tour with tour agent, then you do not need to show them further document. if you apply on your own, you need passport, bank statement (certified true copy from bank), itinerary (both flight and tour) and also company certificate unless if you are selfemployed.

*
they person in charge at the counter will go through your document and if he or she accepted, then you should be able to collect on wednesday.

hey stimix, remember me? i supposed to stay at horidome villa? i actually moved to another hotel near asakusa. i just came back from tokyo last week and you have nothing to worry about transport to hotel. my hotel is further than yours and the trains were still running after midnight as long it is on the main line.

however, you have to be very alert because some of the outbound train from haneda does not have english announcement. i almost took the wrong train to yokohama but luckily quick enough to change train to shinagawa and board another train to my hotel.

i visited nikko with all nikko pass. went all the way up to yumoto onsen. really saves a lot of money. i believe you took another pass for the heritage site visit. personally i think the site was great but you dont have to visit all. just pay 1300yen for entrance to the main shrine which was great. and it was snowing heavily during my visit to nikko. too bad cant walk too far. thick snow on the ground was darn slippery.

Added on March 8, 2012, 7:14 amHmnnn Isn't the pass already covered the entrance ticket? That's the reason I bought the pass wor..
*
there are 3 kind of pass.. which one did you buy? the one that i bought is All Nikko Pass for 4400yen, free transportation all over Nikko so you can go as far as possible. Another pass is World Heritage Pass, you can board train from Tokyo Asakusa Station to Nikko and return (price included) and also entrance to the world heritage site for 3600yen.

My plan for first day at tokyo will be shibuya ->Shinjuku -> Odaiba

So should i take train from shinjuku to shimbashi and take Yurikamome from shimbashi .. at which station i should stop if i want to visit fuji tv, rainbow bridge and palette town?
*
i agree, 3 main attraction in 1 day? I did one full day in Shinjuku, 1 full day in SHibuya+harajuku+aoyama. I don't think you can do all this 3 in one day lor. There are too much to see in these places.

What about the monorail from HND to Hamamatsucho, to connect to Asakusa line?

my flight to tokyo last month arrived punctually at 10.20pm. Since i sit quite at the back of the plane and only the front door of the plane was operational, i reached the terminal building much slower than the rest of the passenger. but to my surprise, the queue at the immigration was short. though the custom officer might take sometime to check throuhg your passport and take your picture, things seems to be smooth.

Hi alice, i also stayed at asakusa so i can give you some tips here. but not sure which part of asakusa you stay, as for me, i stay near minami senju, so it was safe for me to catch train from ueno to minamisenju. i reached my hotel at about 12.30am. so i would say it was still safe. from haneda, i took the keikyu line to shinagawa, then change to JR Yamanote line from shinagawa to Ueno. so ou need to check with your hotel the direction to your hotel then only you decide which line to take.

good luck.
