i went to Japan embassy yesterday at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak.Very easy and fast.I just need to provide :-

1-A passport
2-Photocopy of picture size passport
3-company letter
3-Airlines ticket
5-staff id

That's it.Can take it after 3 days

By da way,if im using credit card there,is it same like Malaysia.I mean just swipe the card and sign.Unlike Amsterdam, its quite different there. They ask 4 digit pin number. So,everytime u want to buy something with your credit card, then therewill have a small machine on the counter that you have to put your 4 digit code number.
Anyone try using credit card at Japan before?

didn't have any trouble using credit cards. i bought bus tickets, food, clothes, toys, souvenirs using credit card, no problem. quite skeptical at first but all went smoothly when i check maybank2u. everything clear, cun!

haih forgot there was this one time when i bought a tshirt with CC, the cashier asked me for a pin number. told her i never used any pin. she said ok, that was it.

and they prefer visa over mastercard. dunno why, but still can use master laa...
*
Thanks..Im kinda worried about this.Same like Amsterdam.Have to use pin number...But since just sign after swipe the card, then,i think its no problem at all

Lol...life size doll is pretty creppy to take home.I dont dare to do it.The entrance is free?

Hey firedauz,in Japan, they have 1day ticket for train?I read a book about Travel To Japan and it only stated for 1Week pass and damn expensive.Around 20000 Yen..Phew.Rather take a bike to go around Tokyo. And what about the train? What time they close? How about if i go out night and is there will be any transport other than train??Maybe bus but not taxi brows.gif

Guys..im in Japan now
Temp is preety cold here.Around 8 degree celcius
Lost when we want to reach our hostel
Lucky there`s lots of people here who is very kind compare to Malaysia
I asked the one girl about how to go to our hostel and she gave us the wrong direction....
later, she ran to use and say appologise and told us the right way to go there....
and she also wanna give us the book that contains japan map+road but we say no cause what she done, run to use back is enaugh..I never tought she will do that and for sure like us in Malaysia,we wont do that...
Didnt mean to say bad thing about Malaysia but here, their people is more helpful and more polite...
I cant describe how generous they are...
But maybe coz im tourist, they help kot...
anyway...thanks to all of you who gave me the information about Japan.Going to round Tokyo tomorrow..
Now staying at Asukasa.... rclxm9.gif

WELCOME TO TOKYO, JAPAN! rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

Asukasa or Asakusa? laugh.gif

Have fun going around Tokyo bro! rclxm9.gif
If you have the free-types of English Tokyo guides, then your holiday in Tokyo is gonna be a blast thumbup.gif

Having fun with the weather eh? tongue.gif
A small advice: find a 100 Yen shop nearby your hostel, its gonna save you lots and lots of money biggrin.gif
Also, get a small umbrella from that kinda shop; u never know, in this kind of weather, it can rain anytime.

And be sure to walk right into the pathway of this Kaminarimon. Lots and lots of souvenirs for you to shop around thumbup.gif
(I'm sure you would've known it by now)

Just came back TODAY
my trip to Tokyo was a BLASt...
hinking wanna go again next time..maybe go to Mt FUji..hehe
yeah,i've been to all that place before.100 yen shop is so cool.I can find a cheap souvenier there.Much more cheaper than any other place. And the duty free shop is so cheap too compare to other shop...They selling Sony Laptop with lower price.Bought a Kimono.Even it is quite expensive but i think its worth it.
The best place i visit is DISNEY LAND...wow...so exciting.Never been to Disney Land before. We got a cheaper price after 6pm.Cost 3100Yen after 6pm.Normal price is 5800yen..Lucky can use credit card.
Food there is quite cheap. And since we are muslim, its hard to find a HALAl shop here. So,we just go to the shop and choose whateva side dishes that not contain pork inside it.And the rice ball is so delicious.First time eat it,so exciting
We also went to Akihabara(is it correct?)..Lots of anime and gambling shop.I wanna try the gambling machine but dont know how to play la.I saw so many ball came from the machine and have no idea what is that. And what the best thing about this place is, major of the shop who selling food, their girl wearing an anime costume and im sure if u are a guy, then probably your eye cant resist to watch the girls...Its DAMN HOT...Sexy,....Chubby..... thumbup.gif

We tried to find any club here but most of it is a bar.I think Japaese people dont like to go for clubbing. They liek pub than a club.2 days we searching for a club but cannot find any...too bad.

When we go back,we wearing a KIMONO(for guy), and yes, all japanese people show their thumb to us.. thumbup.gif hahaha...maybe they are proud we wearing their tradisional costume..but Malaysian poeple saw us, they just shook their head...think we are crazy...but who cares...

One place that i really wanna go but dont have much time is Fish Market.Too bad.Not enaugh time to discover all Tokyo in 4 days.Wish can stay longer... cry.gif

one thing abput japan that Malaysia cant compete.Their safety(even they have a "pak" guard that guard the train door and make sure everyone already inside the train to prevent accident), polite people , and their spirit to their country..

I recommend u all who never been to Tokyo before, please go there..Doesnt matter if u cant speak Japanese, most of them will help u eventhough they also dont know how to speak english. They tried very hard to help you.(one of the guy close their counter at AM/Pm shop just to show us the direction to go to Anime shop..believe it)..Its worth it to learn their culture...so amazing.Lots of place to visit and if u are backpacker like me,then buy a shoe that make u feel like you walk on air coz compare to London, most Tokyo attraction place is far from Train station.....And dont forget to eat fresh sushi( had an experience when we order a set of sashimi, the fish still alive...and lucky i didnt puke doh.gif )....

My rating for Tokyo is 4 1/2 Star (cleaness, polite, safety, worth of money, beautiful girl, very high technology)

I understand Japan has started to fingerprint + photograph all incoming visitors. How is the process? Smooth?

Japan has always been my top choice for overseas getaway. Still saving $$$ for my dream trip!
*
Yes..very fast and smooth.I think it takes only less than 30sec.Just put your thumb on the scan machine. And then, there's a camera.Walla, its done.Very fast and convinient... drool.gif

all i know about the fish market is they only let people with tour guides in because of how mega busy that place is. you could easily get run over by people who works there, carrying fish and all. so not cool to go on your own. nanti kena marah.

i never used prepaid cards before. ask clemong. haha.

if you have trouble with the train fares just buy the cheapest ticket first and use the fare adjustment machine when you reach your destination.
*
so,is that mean i cant go there on my own.Oh man,i really wanna go there.Any other option?

i went in there myself before but i'm not too sure about the auctions as i was there late, abt 7am. honestly, i din see any tour groups over there. it's an open market, so anyone can enter FREE

about cards and travel passes, buy sth tht would suit your plans. if you plan to go a few places in a day, a subway one day pass could be cheaper but might also be less convenient. not much point getting an icoca/suica card as its the still the same price over the counter.
*
Dont they have a day card like London?Last time i went there, im using a card that they sell only on December. Its cheap. But now, they dont sell the card.Only on December.

you can give JAL office here/singapore a call/email. ask them about their japan domestic flights. or you can go to jal counter in kansai airport for info.

or

you can try the bus

http://www.123bus.net/ i took the bus to osaka before. it's not that bad. around 8 hours travel time. lots of stops.
*
WOw..thanks for the info.Actually,i can get a cheap ticket cause im an airlines staff. Its not a problem for me to go to Tokyo from Osaka using JAL but since my my parent and my sister going also laugh.gif ,then have to find the cheapest way to go there.!!!

Added on March 3, 2008, 2:02 amOh ya,by da way, what so special about Osaka? My friend been there before and he said that place is boring.I just want to get u guys opinion about Osaka.

Oh ya.Anyone tried soak bathing in Japan?I bought a book about Japan and its said the price for Onsen and (i cant remember the other type of bath) is 700 yen.But when i checked the hostel where i stayed last time,700yen not cover all.Its quite expensive too....But most people said this is the thing that u cant miss when u visit Japan.Money Money Money.....
