yep for a price of hostel, theyre like hotel.
it seems they have upgraded so much that now you no longer need to share the hot pool with other ppl..
back then i need to make thick-face n dip sama² w/ other ppl LOL
however do take note of the walking distance to hibiya line and the tsukuba express (yep 2 train lines there).. like 10mins walk..
but got lotsa konbini there, n i think i saw a bakery on the other side of the station.. its a laidback town, not much cars so its quiet
you can try mail em ank ask, they speak decent english wink.gif

btw, is Phyzzz or anyone in tokyo around?
does tsukiji market has any closing period for maintenance in feb?
maybe i'll consider go up tokyo for 2-3days

From December 1, 2011 to January 22, 2012, the busiest time of the year at Tsukiji Fish Market, tourists will not be allowed to watch the morning tuna auctions to ensure a smooth and accident free course of business. The rest of the market is open as usual.

ehm, I want to ask some questions regarding lodgings...

hotels in japan...they charge per person per night or per room per night? I am confused.

also, any website recommendations for hotel bookings? cheaper the better...also its best if the charges is per room per night. Or is it better if I book directly at the hotel's website? I am looking at bookings for 4 pax

thx

p/s: im confused...dunno where better to post...here or Club LYN Japan?

For hotel bookings, try Agoda.com or Hotels.com

I managed to book:

Kyoto Royal Hotel & Spa - rm220 per night nett
Osaka Chisun Hotel Shinsaibashi - rm175 per night nett.

The 2 websites above charge per room, max 2 ppl per room.

Will be going to Haneda during Mar School Holiday 6D5N

Still early to start planning but well why not haha..Itineraries probably incl Tokyo & Kyoto (Palace & Mt Fuji)

Abit of question..pardon at this stage bcos I hv really start doing any research yet haha..

1) How much is the bullet train fare to Kyoto from Tokyo?
2) Can the capsule hotel bed accomodate 2 person? - Trying to be kiampsiap abit haha
3) Should I make a day trip to Kyoto/Mt Fuji or stay 1 or 2 nite there?

I'm only super duper budget backpacking style and probably only bringing RM4000K max for my trip there...Hopefully can survive within a week haha.. Hotel & ticket -prebooked..So RM4K is just for transportation, food & abit of soorvenirs

1. If you are really on a tight budget to stay in Tokyo, i have a good recommendation, JGH hotel @ hostelworld.com ( i forgot the personal contact number of the owner, so no choice have to go through the website).

The rate is at 1000 YEN /night in a dormitory room @ August 2011. The room is small but acceptable for such cost. It cost 1100 YEN now, approximately RM50+ a night there.
The owner is very friendly, they can speak english fluently, and the place is clean, they provide washing machine, share toilet and bathroom.

Most importantly is they locate near to a supermarket, which mean you can save your cost by buying bento at cheaper price one hour before the store closes. (Only for those who are funded by themselves to travel in Tokyo and want to save as much as possible)

2. haven't have a chance to go kyoto, but will visit to osaka this february. =) hopefully i got the chance to visit kyoto palace =)

3. If you want to climb Mount Fuji, you can choose to overnight there or not to overnight there, from my experiences, i went just to climb the mountain and photo shooting, so i didn't overnight there due to tight budget.

I travelled from Shinjuku bus station to the 5th station with bus at night around 6pm, reach there at 8/9PM, then we can start climbing the mountain at dark (head lamp must be prepared or else you will not reach the top, or even next station.. ) Well you can purchase a road at the store then you can get a chop on your rod at every station up to the 10th station to prove that you successfully arrive the station!

Then if you keep climbing continuously, you can reach the top approximately 5/6AM with an hour rest or 2. You can have a delicious HOT Ramen at the top of the mountain which cost you 1000YEN/ Bowl. It was a cool experience to eat in such place with hot stuff =DD

Then you can start going to the 5th station and take another bus service either go back to Shinjuku or to the Biwa lake if you enjoy the scenery there.

*Bus ticket cost around 2000YEN on each way from SHINJUKU-5th Station and 5th Station- SHINJUKU.
*You have to prepare your own food such as rich ball, bread, which you can carry easily along the way to climb up Mt Fuji.
*Look into the direction in map carefully when you climb because i did a mistake when climbing up, i use the wrong way to climb, which mean i using the downhill track to climb up the Mount Fuji, end up i walk in alone for the whole cold dizzy night to reach the top, its terribly loneliness. Haha.

This is what i can share with you, if you have any question to ask feel free to pm to my inbox. =)

Or just get a cheapo glove from a Kombini when you get there, if you need it. Like I did.

But really, Tokyo ain't that bad. Go up the mountains THEN you'll need gloves.
