Hrm, i'm heading there for a week on the last week of Oct but I think your budget might be a little too little since it's inclusive of flight?

Include accomodation as well?

My rough budgeting is around RM1.7k for food, transportation, entry fees for USJ, Kobe Herb Garden, and some other places of interest.

But confirm i'll top up another 2.3k to be on the safe side.

Flight ticket already secured with very cheap deal. As for accoumodation, I will be couchsurfing from house to house, or love hotel or camping.

trying to use 5000Yen/day to its full potential. How many yen did you spend for a day?

That's great.

I dunn really keep track on how much I used per day because for me travelling is not about being stingy but to experience what the country has to offer. But can say, i bring over 100k yen for a week's trip and usually have about 30k-50kyen left when i'm back home.

over 100k yen? drool.gif

Unfortunately for me, aside than sightseeing I dont have the luxury to spending spree. tongue.gif .
I went to euro trip for 3 weeks and survived with 800 Euros, pretty sure can do the same in Japan.

Just wanna ask something...

I was told that you need a travel adapter if you wanna use your laptop and charge your handphones in Japan...

Do you need a step-down transformer as well, since the voltage there is different from here?

Does a travel adapter comes with this "voltage step-down" function?

Thanks!

If you're student, i'd suggest you go backpack style. Put a stop to expensive guided tours! Why pay others when you can DIY?  drool.gif

RM5000 is enough for 8-9 days of Tokyo-Fuji/Hakone-Yokohama-Nikko trip inclusive of air ticket  laugh.gif

Bro, i have been reading through japan thread from page 1. Seriously 5k is sufficient for 8days japan trip? Cuz im going soon on Sept and i have no idea how much to bring in. Im still a student and i dont have any credit card. The money to bring is giving me dilemma.

May I know what is the weather there during that time. Do i need to wear thick clothes or casual wear will be sufficient.

Please advice notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I read somewhere that Japan is more of a cash society where credit card is not widely accepted. How true is this statement?

Wow it's been sometime i last visit this thread.

Yes, 5k is definitely enough if just around Tokyo and strictly frugal. If you read around, i've posted my itinerary and cost breakdown a couple of times here.

September should be still warm, but you may want to get a light jacket for the incoming autumn.

Thanks e-jump for the info smile.gif

I checked my laptop charger and realized that it has only 250V written on the plug >.<

I would need a step-down transformer in this case....

If so, where can I buy one and agak-agak how much will it cost?

Thanks!

Thank you for your advice. Another question, My travel location is from Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo. Would 5k still be enough? Actually, im going to Korea for the first 3-4 days then to Japan for the remaining of a 10days trip. Is 5k still enough for this trip?

Thank you. I actually plan to buy some sovenirs for family and friends. Since 5k is not enough, im abit scared right now. Exactly how much do i need to bring? This i still cant figure it out. In korea, we dint plan to anywhere except seoul. Then straight fly to osaka. Airplane tickets are not included in the 5k tho. Would that still not enough?

5k alone is not enough even for Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo. Your shinkansen ticket alone cost RM500.

Wait, unless you are willing to do Survivor 101 laugh.gif No mid-class luxurious meal and cut down to 1-2 cheap noodle/onigiri meals a day, no shopping and staying in cheap hostel.

and he can opt for night busses (transportation+spend a night in the bus).
srsly, we can only help by giving an idea how much u may spend per day for meals+accomodation what to see.

you need to do your own homework beyond that (travel between cities/country) by using hyperdia n google

Thanks for your info. I now come to a question that other people might seems paranoid. Is the radiation serious right now in Japan. All i read, is the gov and tourism agency point of view. I'm really scared at the radiation because it might leave a long effect in our body. I already buy the return ticket btw. cry.gif

yes, the radiation in pretty bad.
but damage has been done. unless u can read hiragana, you can actually buy food (labeld/canned food etc) by seeing where it were produced.

to be frank, the radiation has been spread throughout the world anyway. its just level of contamination
