I don’t call myself an audiophile as most audiophiles only use music to analyse their equipment. I enjoy listening to music and have been doing so for more than 35 years.

Thats misunderstood to the words.
Audiophile literally means people who love musics.

Those who analyse music are ppl who love the 3d soundstage and effect created by their speakers. Those technically are stereophiles

2nd post sudah cari gaduh, 4th post sudah mula gaduh pasal terminology/gear. That's the old timer audiophile spirit alrite rclxm9.gif

Me not really audiophile, small time wannabe only tongue.gif

Got some gear from here too, via Bulk Orders (used to be a huge deal when online shopping was still in its infancy hehe, thanks se7en notworthy.gif ) when they first(?) came out:
- koss ksc-75
- philips hp-1000
- acoustic energy aego 2
- iBasso d1 & crossroads mylar3 , from jaben boss's early days
- superlux hd-668b (maybe i got this from lelong, can't remember sweat.gif )

I pretty much abandoned my pursuit for better audio, quite a while ago moneyflies.gif bye.gif

Hope you got yours and are happy with them though cool.gif

“Audiophiles are more interested in the gear while music lovers are more interested in the music.”

This is the general consensus when using the term audiophile. That’s why I stay away from it.

Thats because stereophile claim themself to be audiophile.. hahahah
But literally the word phile = like, eg: hydrophylic=things that have tendency to attach to water / water loving.
While the -philic usually denoting an affinity for or inclination towards a specified thing. Hence audio-phile was originally used to describe people who love music a lot. But then the borderline gets blur. Even those who listen to effects now also call themself music lover when they realise audiophile has a certain negative meaning to it.

Previoisly i also like to lable myself away from those stereophile who listen to train running across effect, glass shattering sound ect ect. But after i grow old, i realise theres no wrong or right. As long as they spend their money and be happy with it. Some people spend money to hear song because they enjoy the song. Some other people spend money to hear effect also they are happy. Some enjoy both. As long as the setup suits the need and create happiness. Its just fine.

Its just healthy discussion.
Different people are subjected to different opinion. As long as the boundary of using nice words are adhere and it doesnt turn into offensive discussion with name calling or describing"yo mama", i dont see harm at all for exchange of opinion.

Very true bro. To each, their own. Anyway music is life and I can’t imagine a life without it. I was also a former musician and released an instrumental album in 2002 as a passion project.

Enjoy the music!

Actively listening to music? Yes

Touch water for a while with headphone but now back to listening with speaker. All the pleathers on my headphones now becoming dust like when Thanos snap his finger.

I still into olde 2 channel listening. Not bothered about labels, whether audiophile or not.

Source would be streaming and vinyl, about 75:25.

Still rocking my classic Edifier S530D and R2800

But audiophile or not, I appreciate good audio.
Nothing beats the rawness of a classic amp+passive speaker combo. But in this era, the new speakers with built-in DSP are plenty good. Bluetooth is catching up. Streaming services are increasing in quality.

I am happy as long as full-range audio is presented to me.

Just google and found that I remembered wrongly... I dont have E3100 but rather 3280bt... tall 2.1 with bluetooth...

Yeah... I kinda liked how S2000 sounds but this have been crackling too much lately due to the faulty caps and also volume control.

Recently serviced a modern audiophile Marantz amp and compared it to my vintage Sansui AU-D707F because I need to run it in for prolonged period of time.
I much prefer my vintage amp than the modern one.

I've been buying tape, MD and vinyl players lately. Midlife crisis maybe.

Now I need a good amp and speakers. Heck, might even try a portable vinyl player. Would be cool to use it in a cafe listening to Spice Girls on vinyl.

some listen to music and some listen to equipments .. but definitely your favorite music type will determine which or what brand equipment you go for ..

I stopped at streaming music and playing music saved on usb drives. gave up on CDs and never dared to join the vinyl bandwagon ..

Agreed. That’s why I get pissed off when people use the term audiophile so lightly. Here’s the Cambridge definition of the term Audiophile.

“a person who is very interested in and enthusiastic about equipment for playing recorded sound, and its quality. “

I consider myself a “Musicphile”. I enjoy music in its original form and only believe my ears in what sounds best to me. Not graphs, equipment testers or reviews. My own set of ears always prevails. Period!

Relatively more active I guess.

There are more cheap earbuds than ever before, so it is kinda hard to keep track of all of them. But I can recommend the new Qian 25 10-yrs Anniversary edition as a good choice in this price bucket. Otherwsie, NiceHCK YDX isn't bad either.

Thank you for the recommendation. thumbsup.gif

Bought the NiceHCK YDX together with FAAEAL Iris 2.0 (due to Lazada same shop free shipping, haha)

YDX's sound tuned nice with sponge on it and some EQ adjustment. While FAAEAL Iris 2.0's sound tuned nice without sponge on it and some EQ adjustment.

How i wish the YDX's cable uses the 1 on Iris 2.0.

Will order Qian25 and Yincrow X6 next time.

I settled all the endgames in every category except tower speakers. For that I have the elac dfr52. But I think with subwoofer the neumann kh150 can bungkus many tower speakers also edi.
Anyway with the introduction of dca e3 I think there’s not much more improvement in audio space. Well measured and performant gear is already here, now it’s just about cost reduction while maintaining quality.
Three nothing more to the hobby in terms of hardware, I still collect video game vinyl when one comes along that’s about it.

I still want a yamaha amp with analog meters but it’s not a need…

just received the Qian 25 10th Anni, nice earbuds too.
superb value, for those who are interested in getting FAAEAL Iris 2.0 or Ancestor can forget about it, just buy the Qian 25 10th Anni. (for those who already bought FAAEAL Iris 2.0 can try to replace the stock foam with donut foam)

Qian 25 sounds best with donut foam, while NiceHCK YDX sounds best with normal full foam.

Qian 25 has better coherence across the frequencies, but lack of the treble sparkle that NiceHCK has.

worth for getting both (though i prefer NiceHCK YDX more), thanks again for the recommendations 👍🏻

I had 2 pair NiceHCK, I agree that NiceHCK sound better with Foam.

Mine was the original version, another one is v2 YD30 with "silver" cable.

In case someone wanted to know what is the difference

Original version dubbed Sennheiser mx500 clone, has brighter treble and weaker bass and mids (not so full)

v2 YD30 is more balance with better bass and mids

Those looking to listen songs to appreciate their vocal, can get them, no brainer. I bought 2 pairs for RM16 excluding shipping.

Appears to be just a loose connection. A simple soldering job would solve that. If you or anyone you know is good at soldering, it can be fixed easily.

Not recommended, it forms an oily film and gets gummy and attracts dust.
Use contact cleaner instead. Most MR Diy sells them in the electronics section or more expensive better ones can be found in Ace Hardware.

Still using my qdc 4CS custom IEMs from 2021 until now.
(bought it as I wanted to try out a custom - turns out its not as comfortable as what I've expected lol)

As it was a blind buy, had to get used to the sound signature as I was more used to liking a warm sound signature prior to getting it😂

Hi there

If I remember correctly, did you do recabling service for Koss KSC75? If yes, I still remember you recabled my KSC75 around 13 years ago in a near public university area, at your place. I was year 2 or 3 in the univ during that time.

After university, I slowly stopping my audiophile hobby, as life priority changed. Back then in university I think I could afford having audiophile hobby because I had more free time. Now while I may have bit more money as I'm working, I don't have the time to enjoy the sound properly.

I hope one day I can make comeback to this hobby. Cheers.
