It is quite confusing to public. There are 2 kind of EV tire in the market, Pure EV tire and EV compatible tire. Pure EV tire is completely new tech and for EV car exclusively. While EV compatible mean the tire can use in ICE or EV.

Pure EV tire stand advantage of almost all aspects compare to EV compatible tire, except the price.

Hahaha.. Tires manufacturer are damn well happy if you drive EV...

The reality is EV tires naturally wear faster due to greater vehicle weight and higher torque.

https://www.automotivedive.com/news/jd-powe...ehicles/711590/

EV tires can wear up to 20% faster than tires on internal-combustion cars and trucks, according to tire supplier Michelin. That’s mainly because EVs are significantly heavier and produce more wheel torque than traditional vehicles.

In addition, aggressive tire wear may worsen an EV’s environmental impact by increasing the amount of polluting tire particulate released.

You save money on no fuel, oil maintenance, but spend more on others like tires. LPPL

It is better to take a pure EV tire because it should able to last 40k - 50k km in EV car. The current non-EV tire or EV compatible is about 20k - 30k km, some worst cases like iX the non-EV tire worn off below 10k km. Many people do not aware that not only the EV car not only the weight is heavier but the instant torque also peeling off the rubber which make the tyre worn off quicker.

Link to an interesting youtube video. Seems to point towards the fact that it is not necessary to get EV tyres as some UHP tyres with similar load and speed ratings will do the job.

**Don't know how to embed a video hence just the link.**

HL is just modified a little thing on the existing ICE tire. This is "cost saving" method for tiremaker which can use same method to produce the EV compatible tire (HL is EV compatible, not pure EV).

Similar load and speed rating the ICE tire can be used in EV but the tire will like worn off earlier. Even if the ICE tire being made to last long like 50k km, the grip performance gonna be lower than pure EV tire. Since EV save for maintenance and fuel cost, why can invest a little bit on the EV tire. Btw the EV tire is expected around 30% higher proce than ICE tire but we change only once for 2 or 3 years. If using ICE tire the mileage low that we need to change more frequent. It not only bring more damage to environment but also harm our pocket.
