Hi sifus…

I recently bought a MacBook Air and was wondering can I install Windows 11 using Parallels Desktop.

Background….

I was using a Windows PC that does not qualify to be upgraded to Windows 11. Hence my switch to a Mac device.

Can I install Windows 11 on my Mac using my Windows 10 license from my old Windows PC?

Appreciate sifus’ inputs…thank you.

If not mistaken, you can run Windows 11 on a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop

Google to find out more ...

I'm assuming you're using a M chip series MacBook Air. You can install Windows 11 using Parallels Desktop but it will be running an ARM version of Windows 11 and will install Windows 11 Pro by default. You need to do some extra steps if you want to install Home edition

Thank you for your replies sifus….

I’m primarily concern with the free upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro (I have a Windows 10 Pro license…btw) Am I able to do that?

Trying to get a contact email from Parallels requires one to register for support…which essentially I’ll be purchasing the software (Windows 11 Pro) or the Parallels Desktop software. I would rather wait for a definitive answer to my concern first, before I do the purchase. Not cheap the pricing structures…

By right as I tested all Win 10 Product Key are able to activate Win 11 without any issue

Also besides Parallel Desktop you can use VMWare Fusion to create Win 11 on Arm as well

But just to let you know even with Parallel Desktop or VMWare Fusion, Win VM will always having performance drawback (eg: on VMWare Fusion it will only can run on default clock speed, and also doesn't have PCIE pass-through), also better pun on external SSD as well

Currently I'm using using the VM to extract binary out if the extractor program doesn't work well in Wine environment.
