I just sent my car to PUSPAKOM for inspection as I am selling it soon. It is a 9-year-old car and I completely forgot about any tinting I put on it. The tint is not strong at all and looks quite clear. There was a bit of queue at PUSPAKOM but the inspection itself took less than 5 minutes when it was finally my turn. I waited for another 10 minutes to collect my car registration card and received the report via email. In the report, there is this line:

"
4) Keadaan Cermin : a. Ketelusan Cahaya
HDPN- 61% HDPN S.KANAN- 49% HDPN S.KIRI- 50%
"

And the result? LULUS.

Is this a joke or did they relax the regulation recently? I thought windshield should be least 70% and front windows should be at least 50%.

Windscreen 75 the rest can be fully dark. You can spray paint them black if you want.

Better than Australia anytime. Front windshield cannot have after market tint. Whatever comes with the car is it.

Surprise as I was told by the car agent if you sent your car to Puspakom, they will remove your front screen tint as they dont allow any tint (even the current tint is > 5 years) which I install during the backdoor government.

Because they don't want to waste time if your car fail the test.
That's why removing tint is the best.
Plus usually second hand cars undergo this so new buyers wouldn't mind.

From what I've gathered, I think they no longer remove tint from you. They just fail your car and you have to get it removed then go back for inspection again (and pay the inspection fee again).

Just wondering why 61% and 49% still considered pass for my case... Malaysia boleh..

I can’t find any mention of the change in legal tint limits by JPJ or otherwise. You’ve just likely identified a bug in the system. Good thing it was in your favour. 😝

Puspakom is basically a effing joke

Rules change all the time, and no one knows how they calibrate the light meter gadget

When selling my previous cars, I usually just peel off the front windshield tint to avoid any problems

This was the case 5 years ago. I sent my car myself, failed, then I peel the tint off myself and queue again. Then lulus.

Runners will remove your tint no matter legal or not legal, they DGAF because it’s not their tint. They don’t want to waste time and re-do again. If you can DIY, don’t hire runners, its actually easy just time consuming.

70% VLT in front with some windscreen already had their own VLT, put any lights tint will results the VLT to be lower hence reject. Dont blame Puspakom why failed. Ts case better be grateful
