Just had my 1st follow up at the dental after having my braces installed.

All the dentist did was replace the wire with a thicker one.

Is this normal or is he supposed to clean the tartar build up as well?

Cleaning is difficult and even with regular brushing (with normal brush + interdental) after every single meal, there is significant tartar build up around some tooth.

Also, each follow up cost RM 300. Thought that would at least come with some cleaning. RM 300 to go in and out in under 15 mins seems excessive.

if your dentist is more skilled, can be done review visits in 5 minutes

its not about the time u spend, its about the dentist's skills

usually they will do scaling for u before putting braces

1 month already so thick means u not taking care well enough

in certain cases, certain tooth positions, initially its super super difficult for u as the patient to clean. and its totally forgiven

but as the tooth gets straighter it will be easier to clean
