Trans from Russian: The Aurus company, which produces domestic luxury cars in Yelabuga, on the eve of the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin , presented a restyled Senat model. This was reported by an Izvestia correspondent on May 6.

For the Aurus Senat sedan and limousine, a new architecture of the front and rear parts of the body was developed, the radiator grille was changed, and the models received a lightweight aluminum alloy hood. The car was equipped with new adaptive matrix headlights and rear lights in a new design with LEDs.

A digital rear view mirror and a night vision function, additional all-round cameras and a driver fatigue monitoring camera have been installed in the cabin, a new NAMI MM-System multimedia system and a new acoustic system have been installed.

Also, as Aurus representatives said, the ergonomics of the driver and passengers in the Senat cabin have been improved, the location of the steering column and other controls has been optimized. An electronic transmission control selector of original design has been introduced.

In addition, specialists have increased the efficiency of the braking system, suspension, fuel supply system, automatic transmission and other systems. The car is equipped with a hybrid powertrain based on a 4.4-liter V8 gasoline engine with 598 hp. (880 Nm).

On April 6, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced that a restyled model of the Aurus Senat luxury car would be presented at Putin’s inauguration. In February, the minister said that the production of a new line of business-class Aurus cars, together with a foreign partner, would be launched at the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg . The first copies are planned to be released at the end of 2024.

The Electrified Aurus Senat – First Photo.

The restyled Aurus Senat sedan, equipped with a new powertrain, was unveiled at the ProDvizhenie (Promotion) festival in Moscow, held at VDNKh.

The left front fender is particularly striking: it features a hatch that likely conceals a charging port.

Standard Aurus cars don't have one: although the model initially features a hybrid powertrain (a 598-horsepower V8 assisted by an electric motor), it's a mild hybrid (MHEV), with the internal combustion engine playing a dominant role and no plug-in capability. The new version, however, boasts a higher level of electrification.

It's highly likely that this is a plug-in hybrid, also known as a PHEV. These cars can run on pure electricity, without the use of an internal combustion engine.

The Senat's facelift, however, is no longer a big secret. The updated version of the Aurus Senat was unveiled in May 2024.

The restyled Senat differs from the outgoing model with a redesigned front and rear end, completely new headlights and taillights, and a more modern interior.

Incidentally, the electrified sedan shown here has updated headlights once again, as they now have their own unique design.

The Aurus Senat will feature a completely new interior, with a gearshift "joystick" instead of the bulky shifter and a touchscreen. Electric door openers and improved sound insulation have also been announced.
