Research links a desire to own loud car to higher levels of sadism and psychopathy.


"We found that it was sadism and psychopathy predicting who wants to modify their mufflers, who feels more connected to their vehicle, and [who thinks] loud cars are really cool," Schermer told CBC News.

"It seems to be this callous disregard for other people's feelings and their reactions. That's the psychopathy coming out and it's also they probably get a kick out of enjoying watching people get startled."

are you kidding me? for me it depends on how loud it really is, when, what is the purposes.. you can't just "preference to loud car = crazy"

Actually, my 992 GTS has quite a nice, loud cold start… and the reverb in my garage makes it rumble even more. Thankfully it settles very quickly to a nice rumble and behaves itself as I drive off.

Personally I feel Porsche is doing it right. Piping more induction sounds from the engine into the cabin where it’s best enjoyed, without the need to wake up the babies in the neighbourhood
