I've been getting disconnections every month on my Maxis Fibre disconnections and the customer service is shitte. They even took over 1 month to process my relocation recently.

At the moment, I am seeing a blinking red light on the LOS on my modem, and Maxis mentioned that they'll get someone to call me in 24 hours.

Problem is, I still have about 9 months left in the contract. My experience has been so bad that I am willing to pay the termination fee (around rm1,500) and sign up with Unifi instead. I know, I should have read this forum first; only recently realized that Unifi is much better than Maxis in getting issues fixed.

I've been spending on average of rm100 a month buying mobile hotspot passes for myself and my partner, due to the disconnections/poor customer service of Maxis Fibre. This is, of course, on top of my Maxis Fibre subscription that I am paying.

Before I call Maxis for early termination, is there another way out of my contract? Will it be possible to have 2 fibre subscriptions in the same home? It may be cheaper for me to sign-up with Unifi while waiting for my Maxis contract to end.

TIA

Go lodge report with MCMC first.

Changing to another ISP might not solve your issue if it's due to equipment.

Blinking LOS issue is usually due to a fiber cut, you will face the same issue if you use Unifi since they share the same infra.

As for other connectivity issues, it's probably due to the router or poor Wi-Fi signal which similarly, it will remain the same on Unifi unless you buy your own router.

Your case is fiber cable broken. How long have your cable been broken?

It's been down for 1 day so far. But my main issue with Maxis is the poor customer service and that they are slow in resolving issues. For this issue, I was told that they'll call me back in 10-14 working days to set an appointment for a home visit. This is the 4th time that I'm facing connectivity issues in 15 months.

I guess it's an ookayy ISP to go with IF everything is smooth, but when you encounter connectivity issues, you'd wish that you didn't have Maxis.

I am using my own router (and have tested with Maxis router too). The problem seems to lie with the modem and fibre cable.

I think ur issue is same as mine. Maxis on TM HSBB line. Get the fiber optical power meter reading from the technician. Or u can get one from shopee.

If the reading is above >-30dBm, u will suffer the LOS, sudden disconnect, sometime cannot use at all depends on weather.

My whole remedy is to change fiber line from TM's green box (exchange) and having it pull directly to my house. My current dB right now is at a good -21dBm. The best is at -16dBm.

No more LOS, no more sudden disconnect, no more anger.
And from the old fiber line, the technician found a minor dent and that cause the fiber to crack.

p/s: Since I am on TM's backbone, I did get TM technician to change the fiber line for me. Maxis don't have the authority to do that unless ur line is from Maxis backbone.

technically possible but not allowed if your physical fiber is served via tm hsbb.
At some point when I transition my home from celcom fiber to unifi, my fiber carries two active account that I could connect both Unifi and celcom depending my endpoint configuration.

but if your fiber provider is also maxis that there is no way out.

How did you get the TM technician to come over? From my understanding, once you’re subscribed to Maxis Fiber, you can only call them for issues. Can still call TM 100 hotline even if you’re on Maxis?

From Maxis technician. Ask them for lubang to expedite. They can't do anything already and my optical reading was around -28 to -33dBM depends on the days.

Thanks for replying. Did you have to pay the TM tech?

Are you a heavy user of data at home or running an office from your house WFH?
Do you require fast latency for gaming?

If not you can join the rest including myself by braving to cut the cords and go full wireless.
