Really bad experience I had, Maxis dealer at The Starling Mall Damansara Utama named Gentel Communications Sdn Bhd.

I wanted to sign up an iPhone Maxis plan, for peace of mind I wanted to sign it up directly with a Maxis Centre. I saw a Maxis store at the Starling Mall Damansara so I went in and enquire.

This Maxis dealer falsely claimed they are not a dealer, but instead is a Maxis Centre. Asked many time and being told they are Maxis Centre not a dealer, telling me stories that they have taken up the store used to be a dealer and Maxis website havent updated their status as Maxis Centre yet.

Better yet then they forced me to take up RM 299 for extended warranty, as this is mandatory for any iPhone purchase through Maxis Centre.

After being convinced and swiped my credit card, I couldnt get a receipt from Maxis. That was when dispute started, I questioned them why couldn’t I get a receipt from Maxis since they are Maxis Centre? That was when it was revealed that they were “Gentel Communications Sdn Bhd”, and when I started recording the video below.

Such a horrible experience being cheated on.

Actually what is the difference between maxis centre and maxis dealers?

So had you go to the tribunal?

That’s why I like to do everything online

No need talk to human who is going to try and increase their commission from me

center is maxis shop. dealer is 3rd party.

I sided to the consumer because there is a lot of businesses trying to “cheat” in order to close the deals.

1. Written notice to the Gentel Comm
2. Log case to Maxis
3. Log case to MCMC
4. Log complaint to KPDNKK, then Tribunal

Doing online is a good way, but if want to do offline..

I avoid dealers.. and there are many maxis centers, but some are actually authorized dealers which I avoid also

I prefer to go the actual maxis branch to do things, and the same with any other telco also (digi, celcom)..

I look for the locations on the official website, or actually we can see on the sign board also "dimiliki oleh" if not Maxis Bhd then it is dealer

If see on the official website, sometimes they'll list authorized dealer.. so have to be careful

Unless super super super urgent, then only go for authorized dealer.

You can avoid this whole situation if you just surf Maxis.com.my and scroll to the bottom of the website and you can locate the branches for Maxis Centre.

It takes you less than 1 minute to find the information. Just take it as your personal lesson.

Same goes to if you would like to visit any other kinds of business, you can check their official website, official facebook/twitter/instagram pages for information first before you visit the physical branch.

This is what I do all the time. Some of the businesses also didn't update in their official website, but they update more on their social media platforms.

Maxis is a joke, I thought the one in Ikana is the official maxis center but I ask again, they say is a dealer as well.... its so hard to find official center, I thought Maxis is quite popular.... the service is bad in those dealer shop

The only Maxis Centre nearby Dsara Uptown, Ikano (Ikea) is in TTDI

But this TTDI Maxis Centre service not consistent, lately quite shitty.

For anything that requires customer service, I just call 123 to settle it.
