I tried searching online but I can't seem to get a concrete answer as of 2024 updated procedure.

1. Can I just walk in (no appointment) to any post office, bring my IC and old driving license, and renew it on the spot? Without the need to do any online application or bookings etc..

Just keep in mind that nowadays our driving license is going digital. If you want physical card, you need to go renew at JPJ instead of post office.

Post office would tell you they could renew for you online only, cannot get printed, then ask you to download MyJPJ app to show the license.

Yes , can renew both driving licence and road tax at post office but they will tell u only digital , no sticker or any physical stuff .

I went JPJ early this month to add new class for my license. They asked to download MYJPJ and tengok sana.

I tell them but I need license to book for GDL class at driving institute then baru they gave me a slip. Not license oh....

they can still print out the one i went to...

I read from news if you want the license like previously which is the proper driving license card, you need to prove that you need it for a purpose like driving in overseas, otherwise it would be just a renewal slip card.

Ya that renewal slip. But luckily the driving institute accept it.

No. JPJ they give you renewal slip. Mahu tengok lesen? They will ask you download MYJPJ pergi tengok sana.

But that slip also can act as license. I tried showing it at police traffic road block they just let me go.

other way is pay money and get new renew card, old way

Whatsapped a post office awek yesterday to ask. This morning she replied. Can renew but no more physical card. Cukur last year when i renewed they were still issuing cards.

A post office counter staff in Penang told me they only issue the renewal slip (just like the good old time), to attach to existing expired license.

Yes, you need supporting document to proof that you are traveling overseas to get the physical license card (like the old one). Supporting documents are like flight booking and our passport.

You also need to pay something like RM20 if I'm not mistaken. I was also charge RM5 for the renewal slip (laminated paper).

Source: Renewed in late Feb 2024 at JPJ Padang Jawa.
A friend renewed his in December 2023 and got the physical card automatically. So this probably only enforced in 2024.

Yes can. Just do it last month at lotus bukit tinggi klang post office. No cash transactions must use debit/credit card to pay.

Incorrect. If you show proof that you're going abroad (or you're a foreigner) you can still get the plastic, credit-card-size license with your photo on. Got mine last week, 5 year expiry.

I renewed my lesen for 10-years at the JPJ branch opposite Amcorp Mall last mth, and requested for the physical card was was told by the counter staff that JPJ no longer offers this, at the most only the paper renewal slip.

They didn't mention about needing to provide proof of going abroad, which would have been easy to obtain as I travel regularly on business.

Same JPJ I got mine, near Taman Jaya LRT.

This is strange. Same branch somemore.
My request for the physical card was flatly denied, saying its no longer offered. Was asked to print myself from the app🫨
