My phone used to have wechat. But I have un-installed it after months of not using it.
Now, I install wechat (on the same phone). After entering my phone number, 2FA code with sms (also tried with password) and doing the puzzle, it gives me a set of numbers and ask my friend to verify my account. I'm stuck here.
Where do I enter that unique ID numbers on my friend's phone to verify?

I have tried creating a new account and the verification method is still the same:- it gives me a unique ID number.

I'm surprised that all my previous 2FA like voice recognitions go useless when it forces another person to verify my login.

How do I proceed?

you need choose one of your WeChat friend and send him or her the verification request and inform him to verify you.

I recently travel to China I need to install back wechat. When I reset password I need to do the following.



Request your previously added wechat friend to type the 6 digits and send it to you through wechat then only can get approval.

Happen to my phone after i reboot it. Need this and that. Very annoying. Forget how i manage to get back my wechat....happen last year. Try look at youtube

once they request you to verify your ID, they give you two options, one of them is to request your friends to verify you

Opt that option. Once your friend has done it, you can login then.

can I ask someone who is not in my contact list to add me (via phone number), then send the unique ID?

Use WhatsApp to ask or call them or meet them face to face, ask for help, please send me a wechat message, type the 6 digits passcode to me.

get a new phone number to register.new acc on new device that diff than the one you have logged before and request you do ID

Do you have 2nd phone number?

If your old number still cannot log-in then no choice you have to register another new account with your 2nd phone number.

If you don't have 2nd phone number, just go any telco shop buy those cheap prepaid sim card number then can register new wechat account.

to prevent this issue in the future, add your family members into your contact and ask them verify you if this happens again.

Don't worry. I live without wechat during my 8 days trip to guangzhou last month.

Our touch n go e-wallet is also an Alipay, it is widely accepted in China. We can scan their Alipay QR codes and they can scan our QR codes, even roadside small stall also no problem with our Touch n Go e-wallet.

You can ask me anything if you any question of cashless payment in China.

Shanghai FWB purposes

When I upgraded to my iPhone 15 pro, WeChat requested I used my old iPhone 14 Pro to scan some code and then everything reverted to normal.

Bump.

My client from Shanghai has been trying to contact me for the past week via wechat, but I recently changed phone and didn't install wechat.

Now facing the same problem as TS.

Anybody managed to resolve?

i waited for a few days, then re-login with sms method. this time it can login. i have no idea why.

How do your Chinese friends or drivers or whoever do if they want to contact you?

GSP location are not 100% accurate. If your Didi driver try to contact you, he can't call your non-China number.

I have no friends in China. I travel solo. I did register my 2nd phone number for wechat just in case. In the end I didn't use it at all. I didn't ride e-hailing. I ride MRT to and from airport. I ride MRT and bus for 8 days in Guangzhou.

I have Alipay app. Under Alipay app, there's a program called Public Transport. I register a digital public transport card, scan Alipay app digital public transport card to enter and exit train station and it deducts money from my VISA credit card (that I bind to the Alipay).

For public transport
-Open Alipay app
-At the top panel same row with Scan button, select "Transport" （出行）
-Select the city
-You will find there's different types of digital public transport card available
-Choose one that you want to use (Bus, MRT)
-Register the digital transport card then you can use
-Example, when you want to enter and exit MRT train station, open Alipay, tap "Transport". Public Transport card QR will appear, scan this QR at the gate, it deducts money directly from your Alipay account when you exit.

Yes they can - driver can call you but of course it will cost you a fortune if you answer it (dont answer calls from Hangzhou )
As for GPS -always unreliable and inaccurate - GaoDe is where its at now, much more accurate, efficient and easy to use.

Couple of Didi driver says they can't contact me. Probably their phone doesn't automatically put in country code. And nobody in their right mind will want to call overseas number.

I install wechat on a new device again. failed to receive SMS 2FA code.
