actually the main culprit is rice.To feel satiated economically in Malaysia is to eat more rice and less protein. To eat protein would mean to spend more. Malaysians are so impoverished they cannot afford to eat healthy meal.
The other problem is lack of proper amentities to encourage active lifestyle. Our pedestrian walkways are without roof, not properly connected, the cities are built around cars, discouraging walking culture.
Got public parks lah, but a lot is too dirty and not well-maintained.
Malaysians in the first place have no idea on how to find cheap protein. The other problem is lack of proper amentities to encourage active lifestyle. Our pedestrian walkways are without roof, not properly connected, the cities are built around cars, discouraging walking culture.

The only protein that I think most malaysian knows are fish, chicken or meat.
While in western countries such as US, eating canned beans, lentils are one of the cheapest sources of protein that they always eat.
Same goes with Tofu and Tempe.
But yeah, majority of Malaysian thinks that eating beans/lentils sounds really strange and couldn't tolerate with the taste
