Both are awesome. The perfect film to watch this Christmas has to be It's a Wonderful Life, a really touching film. Casablanca is self-explanatory.
*
Gonna try "It's a wonderful life". starring who?
Casablanca is great, I couldn't get it so much for the first time except some very witty dialogue and the heart melting "As times goes by".
But after the second time I loved it.

I still like L.A. confidential and Fight Club even the twist is just one time only and I can see it coming even the first time watching it.

Anyway recently watched,
The Lookout, kinda good and entertaining. Good storyline and great acting by the Blind guy and Villain guy. Some little flaws and a cliche black glass guy but overall still good. One of my top 10 in 2008. 7.8

Mr Brooks, the ending part with the daughter was kinda lame. It's so unconvincing and spoil the whole thing. In fact every scene with her daughter is unnecessary, so does the Demi Moore sub plot. Otherwise would be an a solid one with more times on Kevin Costner and William Hurt dialogues and on works. 6.7

Big Fish, my X times watching it and still like it. Probably my favourite Tim Burton's movie. Obi wan McGregor is so well cast and the lady is too lovely. Just couldn't figure out why the Circus boss has to be a werewolf or something. 8.5
Can't wait for Sweney Todd

Trainspotting, simply amazing. Loves every seconds and every bits of it. Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Johhny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner are all great. Highly recommended for those who hasn't and especially those with some experience of you know what. 9.0

There will be blood.
Some talented actors acting well in a somehow weak or non existence plot which lasted 2.5 hours.
Though a fans of Danny and even Paul Dano, very disappointed seeing it as a Oscar nominated best pic.
I'll be dammed if it really get the best pic of 2007.

weak and non existence? are you kidding me? There Will Be Blood is undoubtedly one of the best films of 2007.
*
Yeah. Rest of the aspects are top notch, tense, emotion are high, superb acting by Daniel D Lewis, some eye opener of mining which I like, the greed, the hatred, the doubt, the lost people at the church of the 3rd revelation, the priceless Milkshake scene, high pitch and strong scores that was ......well strong but a bit harsh and overdone just to make up the intensity but I think the plot are weak and that is what matter the most to me.
Will give it a second try, but for the moments, it didn't convince me as one of the best films of 2007.

Why not enlighten me on what I missed instead of just claiming it one of the best films of 2007.

The ones you mentioned in bold. You nailed it right. Can't believe after all that's been said by yourself, you still claim the plot was weak tongue.gif
*
Perhaps my English failed me but when I said plot, I meant the storyline.
I don't see how all these good things could add up to a good plot.

1)Lock, Stock And 2 Smoking Barrels.
2)Snatch.

Watch LSA2SB and rush back to the DVD shop at 1a.m. to get the follow up Snatch and like both very much.

British sure know Humour better than American.

3)Adaption
I think it's damn great and even a tad bit better than Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind and Being John Malkovich. I mean, it is on the same level with these great movies without a brain portal material, it's just pure script writing.
Chris Cooper is so so so versatile that I couldnt recognize him in every movie until he speaks.

Only when it works, when it doesnt, its terribly dull.

Thanks I've been spare from those.
I didn't watch enough English film at the first place.
But so far most that I watch Trainspotting, Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead, This is England, Cash Back etc are all very well made films to my liking.
Even some france movies that I only understand by reading subtitles.
But just that their humor are just so natural that need no jim carey face to pull off and it cames so naturally like life itself that need no attempt.

I thought Lock, Stock And 2 Smoking Barrels was boring. I just don't understand Richie's brain  rclxub.gif
*
Well. I think it was brilliant and literary not a single second I felt boring.
It's original, sophisticated, witty, lively and I can sit there whole day listening to the British cockney slang and funny conversation.
I think it's a very well combination of story, music, camera works, editing, acting and directing, especially in snatch. Although snatch has no originality to speak off as it is basically a remake a LSA2SB with a bigger budget and some tuning to please the American dudes.
Just never thought a gangster flick could be made this way, an eye opener.

I'd say I have a common taste, common good taste maybe. ohmy.gif (what is that really?)
What I like most are graded highly by most people.

But yeah, i will try these two.
It's a shame I totally missed them all these years.

Awesome cool! Too bad I'm living 45 mins away from Melbourne City. Are you staying in Melbourne too?

- also recently watched Erin Brockovich. Very good film.
*
Unforgettable scene when Erin pwns the other girl with all the memorized details and phone numbers.
The looks on her face.

The biker guy is the same guy with Harvey Dent right?

Wow, Red Cliff is awesome. 2hours and 10 minutes really worth it. The art of war or watching the war strategies and formation is damn nice. Can't wait to watch Red Cliff 2.

My rating 9.5/10 blush.gif
*
For crying out loud.
The strategies and formation was so badly presented, I bet it wouldn't help a bit unless you're fighting with a bunch of retarded leading by yet another retarded general. But that's exactly what they show give you. The One man show is a prove of blardy bad formation. Superhero fighting not even competent enemies. Too many man standing there holding their spears "waiting" for their turn to attack but clearly there is only 1 man there to kill, that one man that keep killing his comrades.
The acting was bad. Takeshi portrayal of Zhu Ge Kong Ming kills the show. Even their ace Tony Leung did not deliver as many said he would.
He was his usual trademarked stiffness, blank face, calm dialogue, and grin. You can review back all his work for this few years.

I understand that the movie was targeted to many western audience so the using of too much of modernized languages is making it unrealistic but it is forgiven. But can you believe there is no witty & memorable dialogue in a show that contains one of the brightest man ever in Chinese history and few of the greatest character of all time.
Some pigeon scene and the flirting scene was totally out of no where.

Let's hope the second part will be better.

nope i had the choice to rent that or this, and i took this. then again the ori is a zombie classic, if you love those kinda movies its a must watch. DOTD was ok some parts were totally pointless. the "enjoyment" scene where those guys had flashes of fun in the mall was like out of place and so on.
i was kinda expecting a zombie fun in the mall itself, but owh well that didnt come to be.

Couldn't get my hand on the Romero version so I couldnt compare.
But my impression of it was the opening was so well done.
Busy hospital showing a "hint" then the nurse on his way back to the lovely neighborhood. It calms you down and make you emotional ready for the movie to reveal itself then suddenly "BAM".
