cool, ill give Justice League Crisis on Two Earths a watch later today.

but if you were to take out the other superhero's from Justice League Crisis on Two Earths and leaving batman & superman alone like for Superman/Batman: Public Enemy movie, would you still go for Justice League Crisis on Two Earths or Superman/Batman: Public Enemy ?

its gonna be hard for me comparing both Superman/Batman: Public Enemy & Justice League Crisis on Two Earths because:

you have just batman & superman as the heroes for Superman/Batman: Public Enemy & on the other side, you have Justice League whole complete gang of superheor's for Justice League Crisis on Two Earths, so was the characters for Justice League Crisis on Two Earths easy to follow for the good and bad side ?

i know its Justice League & all but i just feel its "too much" having a lot of characters on the good & bad side. kinda spoil the whole movie. well, maybe you liked it because the more the better ?

still, i would give Public Enemy & Justice League Crisis on Two Earths

oh last thing, would you be giving Batman: Under the Red Hood a watch when its out 27 July 2010 ?
i know i will, cant wait. bring on the JOKER! brows.gif

>cool, ill give Justice League Crisis on Two Earths a watch later today.

Good for you. Hope you enjoy

>but if you were to take out the other superhero's from Justice League Crisis on Two Earths and leaving batman & superman alone like for Superman/Batman: Public Enemy movie, would you still go for Justice League Crisis on Two Earths or Superman/Batman: Public Enemy ?

Then the story would not have work for Crisis on Two Earth, if only Superman and Batman is involved. It is a STORY about the Justice League, NOT The World's Finest (Superman/Batman) so it got BIGGER implications.

The Two Earths superpowered beings are the same and yet VERY different. Eg. In the Justice League world you have Superman in Lex Luther's world u have Ultra-man etc so...

I promise you, you would not have problems "individualising" the many characters.

What I'm waiting for is an actual adaptation of The Killing Joker, either live-action or animated, but alas, the subject matter is too.... "adult"!

Thanks for the head up about Batman: Under the Red Hood.

The last MUCH anticipated Batman animation I was excited about, turned out to be a dud... (Batman: Gotham Nights) *Sigh*

I can watch this again and again, and NEVER tire of it.

Joe Pesci and Lisa Tomei at their best.

Two college kids driving thru the country and got mistaken as arm robbery murderers.

Not able to afford a proper lawyer one of the boy's cousin turn to his cousin Vinny to be their lawyer.

Slapstick happens! laugh.gif

Glad you've enjoyed.

Batman: Gotham Nights felt a little "haphazard" to me so....

Will look out for Batman: Under The Red Hood

Ah... Sandra Bullock.

Who doesn't love Sandra Bullock?

Who would have thought that someone so plain could go so far in the entertainment industry!! tongue.gif (Betty White said it, NOT me)

There is alot of flaw in term of storyline in this movie.

But Sandra, William Shatner (huh??) and Michael Caine, did an EXCELLENT job with this. William Shatner steals alot of scene by reacting amazingly to Sandra Bullock's highjinks!!

Pity the sequel to this was so horrible!

I've been watching a lot of movies which doesn't require a brain recently.... Hm.... laugh.gif

How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

Wohoo Dreamworks. Way to go.

Best 3D Animation, hands down

Picture Quality: 9.5/10
Sound Quality: 9/10
Storyline 8.9/10

I seen them all, Bolt 3D, Christmas Carol 3D, Up 3D etc, but the 3D effect of this movie is SPECTACULAR.

Story works. Talents behind the voices works. The DEPTH preception for this movie is FANTASTIC.

Recommend you sit RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CINEMA for best effect.

Bring you girlfriends/boyfriends/friends/family, oh just bring everyone you know to watching this movie.

It's got drama/comedy/suspense/thrill all rolled into one.

The Lovely Bones (2010)

Wow how do you describe a movie like that?

The selling point of this movie, is Peter Jackson.

The Peter jackson who had made EPIC like the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and here lays the issue.

People who come and watch this movie is expecting an Epic, which this movie ISN"T.

I'm NOT saying that this is a bad movie, it is not, I just wish they didn't market it as one (eg plastering Petr Jackson's name all over the place)

This is a SLOW burner.

All the players in this movie played their roles well and Saoirse Ronan played Susie to the T!

Stanley Tucci is brilliant in this movie.

How do you categorise this movie?

It's hard, drama definitely, mystery of course, suspense (there a scene in this movie where EVERYONE in the cinema held their breath, that is how good Peter Jackson is at capturing everyone attention) yes, but, the marketing for this movie was done poorly (eg if you want pizza and end up eating good Chinese, you'll still crave pizza).

I like this movie, the ending is... unique and only Peter Jackson is ballsy enough to go there

I'm giving this a 8/10, though I don't think the general public would agree with me.

Btw mov_freak, I have never seen a Sandra Bullock that I liked, in any movie she has starred in.

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Mar 18 2010, 08:00 PM)
I kinda agree with Quickfire. I don't know what is it with Bullock. For all intents and purposes, she seems to act well enough to be convincing in each of her roles, nice person on and off screen with charity but I just can't stand her.

Probably the only movie apart from Speed that I liked her in was The Proposal and that was all to do with Betty White and Ryan Reynolds and the GILF Mary Steenburgen.

Also, regarding The Proposal, did anyone get the ending at all? What if he loved her, if he didn't love her? I'm still lost.
So.. now I know, there are at least 2 persons in the world who doesn't like Sandra Bullock! That's cool.

And thank you n00b13 for asking about Speed!! laugh.gif

Additional QuickFire and kobe8byrant what are your feelings about Demolition Man and The Proposal? (Eg. born already or not!! tongue.gif)

Didnt see The Proposal. Havent seen Demolition Man since I was a kid... and I dont remember Bullock in it. Her acting probably isn't bad per se, but there's something about her style of acting (or maybe she's like that in person as well) that I just dont like. She was annoying as fuck in Speed. Should have blown her up, would have made an awesome movie even more awesome.
*
Well. Aren't you full of VIM today!! tongue.gif

I would recommend you watch The Proposal first. Come on, the worst thing that could happen is you'll find yourself liking it!! laugh.gif

I remember there was this device where both parties plugged themselves into and proceeded to have "mind sex" as a substitute to physical sex to "prevent AIDS" as said by the female character (was it bullock?) or something like that. I dont actually remember any sex scene...
*
Yes, THAT's Sandie!!

The device was created to stop STD (sexually transmitted disease) not just AIDS. She also when on with a list of disease EVEN worst then AIDS (in the future)

Planet 51 (2009)

Just finished this movie and... one word

Nope shakehead.gif

Shakey concept, badly executed, didn't really care for anything about the movie not even half way through the movie...

It tried to hard to be everything and ended up being a nothing...

Avoid at ALL COST!!

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (2010)

U know what, Feature Animation like Planet 41 and Astro Boy do not look much better then Disney direct to video stuff.

Disney's flexing their muscle (and hold on little girls EVERYWHERE) with 4 Tinker Bell movies, one representing 1 season, and they are okay especially on a lazy Sunday afternoons.

Astro Boy (2009)

Bummer, was actually looking forward to this.

I know of Astro Boy but had never really watched an episode.

Hard to believe that companies would put so much money (Charlize Theron, Nicolas Cage, Freddie Highmore etc are the voices behind this movie)in the project and NOT get the storyline right!!

Additionally, graphically speaking, it is not much better the Disney's direct to video Tinker Bell???!

A "Japanese" retelling of Pinocchio (with a twist).

Imagi Animation had since announce that it is closing shop.

Some ppl. say the Princess Bride was teh fairy tale movie that set the standards of all other fairy tale movies....

Fast Forward to 2010, and after countless fairytale movies, watching back The Princess Bride is like what you said...and I agree with you.

But I bet during the 80's, watching this was like  rclxm9.gif  thumbup.gif  rclxms.gif

Btw, early reviews for Kick-Ass make it out to be, well, kick ass.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1217700-kick_ass/

I know its early, but an 8.7 average score!

Incidentally, Matthew Vaughn also directed Stardust, which is also a whimsical fairy tale in the mold of The Princess Bride, only better imo.

Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words wouldn't do at all!! tongue.gif

Stardust is good, but personally I prefer The Princess Bride, because I think it has more.... HEART!!! laugh.gif Stardust has cooler effect no doubt but not as much heart.

Disagree. I found the love between the two leads in Princess Bride to have a glossed-over, fabricated feel to it. It didn't feel authentic. The whole 'first chapter' where we see how they fall in love looks staged with bad actors. Doesn't help that they didn't have much chemistry between them. On the other hand, the main actor in Stardust (sorry can't remember his name) had this slightly bumbling, but innocent and sincere demeanor about him. Instantly likeable dude. And while it may be cliched, the hate-develops-into-love angle works here, thanks to the good writing and great chemistry between him and Claire Danes.

Maybe it isn't a great film, but better than The Princess Bride it is.

Hmm... I actually preferred the "staged" effect of The Princess Bride. The reason being it is a "fairytale" story a grandfather is reading to his sick grandson. I have to admit that I found Cary Elwes to be charming in this movie and Robin Wright Penn to be very pretty in it as well. What I LOVE most about the movie is the ESSEMBLE, the skilled swordman Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), the head of the assassins Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), the Giant (André the Giant), the six fingered man (Count Tyrone Rugen) and Billy Crystal!! It borders on the absurd and that's what appealing to me.

N00b13, yes I've read the books and yes, the books are better (still reading the Graphic Novel to Stardust). There really isn't any book adaptation to a movie in which the movie is better then the book, the only exception to me would be The Lord of the Rings. Before anyone crucify me, let me explain what I mean. J.R.R Tolkien attempted to write this book at least two times. The first time he wrote quite substantially, and then decided that he didn't like THAT draft, he SCRAP that ENTIRE draft and started from scratch again (please remember, he wrote The Lord of the Rings B4 computers were in every home). He probably type it out on a manual typewriter (look ma, no power supple required!! tongue.gif). He wrote what he likes (in his mind) but NOT necessary what is interesting. So the movie had taken some artistic licensing, but in my opinion, so much the better.

The chap in Stardust is named Charlie Cox! laugh.gif

Gremlins (1985)

In case some people are not entirely sure what a gremlin is, when the jet engines were invented, and America was having issue breaking the sound barrier, planes literally broke apart during tests, and the term the gremlins did it (eg. ripping the plane apart, nothing to do with bad engineering) was coined.

Steven Spielberg used this theme for his Twilight Zone movie (1980) and again with Joe Dante in this movie.

It's always had an almost cult following and later a more slapstick Gremlins 2 was made which was also good, in it's own sense.

Having said the above, Warner Brother has got a lot of splaining to do about this HD transfer!

I've watched it on both TVs I have access to (a 32" Toshiba HD Ready LCD TV and a 42" Panasonic FullHD Plasma TV).

It looks passable on the 32" HD Ready but on the 42" FullHD TV, the atrocities (video transfer wise) are VERY apparent!!

Some scenes are sharp some scenes are soft, skin color is ALL over the place and people who hates grains, BEWARE!!

In short, it is a VERY lazy transfer, DNS and edge sharpening is VERY apparent, there is absolutely NO sense of pride for this work at all

Enjoyable movie, spoiled by BAD transfer!! *Sigh*
