Very fun flick with as usual awesome displays by Louis Koo and Lau Ching Wan (they're the best duo in HK together )
Don't expect anything too serious though as at the end of the day it's under the Comedy category.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Ah, Quentin Tarantino, what can I say about his works!

ALOT!!?!

Am I a die hard Tarantino fan?

NO!

Do I watch his movies?

YES!

What stops me short about calling myself a Tarantino fan is I'm not crazy about the violence in his movie.

I don't mean all movie have to be about sunshine and rainbows (case in point David Cronenberg's A History of Violence), I do think that Tarantino tends to "showoff" the violence in his movie, which I don't appreciate.

Back to Inglourious Basterds, I was dead tired on Thursday evening (after a couple of busy weeks at work), and ended up in The Garden's Signature cinema watching this at 9:55 pm!

And you know what, I found myself engrossed!

Sections I love

In the beginning at the farm, the shift of dominance between Monsieur LaPadite and Col. Hans Landa was so subtle and effective!

The Bar Scene, where the character Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) was nothing BUT narration, but by Jove was it TENSE!!

The "anti" Romeo and Juliet scene in the projection room!

And the very last frame of the movie!!

the rest of the movie.... Tarantino has to learn to be more giving to the audience rather then satisfying all he sees in his mind for his movie (am I making sense??)

I give this 8.9 out of 10

Zombieland

well well, i never thought about anything to grace so close to shaun of the dead. but this almost knocks em over. zombieland and shaun otd are two of the best contemporary zombie horror-comedy flick around!

the characters are simple and straightforward, yet as the story goes on, they expand and evolves. it's very easy to relate to the characters. the story is also casual and doesnt take itself too seriously. the zombies are real, the threat is real, the logic is real. but how the characters deal with it with light and easy yet hectic and chaos is totally fun to watch.

the strongest element in this flick is the rules of zombieland introduced by the protagonist. each time the rule is used, u'll see a nice montage of it in a very fun way with a witty narrative.

i say, if u must watch only one zombie movie this year, this is the one!

my last movie is jennifer's body, just watched it today

Just watched Changeling and Fight Club

Changeling:
It was pretty good. I felt the hate in me when the scene goes to the cops. Especially the captain incharge, he played his character so well. And you would just hate him.
I couldn't help notice something about his mouth/teeth, making him have some accent and character. Which was pretty unique and sometimes annoying.


The killer, looked pretty insane and sadistic toward the ending. Especially when he was in court. Loved his character then.

I thought the movie would just end at the part when the killer gets hanged. But who knew that one of the boys would return to his family. Niceeeee.

Only boring part of this movie was the background music. It makes it feel like the movie is moving wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too slow and makes it boring at some parts.

Fight Club:
Okay this was just awesome. The narration was awesome. The dialogue was great. The mindf*** was even more awesome.
Who knew he had dual personality. That was just awesome. Especially seeing Edward Norton punching and pulling himself around.

Ending, when he shot himself, thought he would have died. But guess the bullet when somewhere to his cheeks? This show made me go Wow speechless. Too good!

TIME TRAVELER WIFE

Nice story, another successful adaptation movie from novel. Eric Bana plus Rachel McAdams. Remember Rachel from The notebook. but this time i failed to cry when watching this movie.

Assassination of a High School President

Watched this last night, and it was a BLOODY waste of time!!

It has a good premise, but unfortunately it SUCKED in the delivery....

Storyline was okay, but the casting, the pacing, the inability to sell the movie to the audience and WHAT THE HECK is Bruce Willis doing in THIS movie!!

Mischa Bison's career isn't going anywhere!!

Good romantic movie with very sad ending

I was hanging out in cafe waiting for my fren today, was too bored. searched for movies in his lappie n found I Love U Beth Cooper. Funny movie, the waiter was givin me a funny look as i had my headphones on n laughin alone like a retard.

Surrogates

this film tried too hard to top i, robot. but one thing it apparently didnt realize is that i, robot isnt as good as its original idea presented in scifi novels. there are lots of other things that they could focus on, like the whole humans vs surrogates resistance fighters and the moral conflict of the characters. but they decided to only focus on the main character and then jump in and out between action and drama.

there's no focus in this film. it's very hard for me to relate to any of the characters. it's a good premise gone to waste.
