Hi guys, I have a Joven SL30iP-RS instant water heater that produce very loud whining noise after right in one year. Literally 1 year and 3 days.

It's just few days after 1 year of warranty, very upset about this and wondering whether anybody know what's the issue of this heater and how much is the repair cost?

Best person to answer your question is logically a Joven technician. Why don't u just request from them a house servicing? If the faulty part is the DC Pump, usually DC Pump has a longer warranty (around 5 years), so replacement for the DC Pump is free, but u will still need to pay for the technician servicing cost (usually around RM50 to 80 I think) because the warranty is only for the parts, not on manpower cost.

Looks like Joven really fine tuned the reliability of their product right down to the last day of a typical 1 year warranty.

Asked Joven technician to came over to replace the pump and the pump luckily is 5 years warrranty. Only need to pay labour charge of 55.

But the replaced pump produce much louder noise like a truck inside a small room. Not sure whether it’s normal.. rather disappointed with Joven quality and their customer service is disaster.

Email no reply, call nobody pick up. Submit form on their website yet nobody contact you ever since.

I know right. It’s much of a coincidence! I jump ship from panasonic to Joven and it’s going to be my last Joven water Heater. Such poor QC and newly replaced pump sound like a bullldozer

If the water pressure is low (from clogging) it might put more stress on the water pump/heater and cause it to fail prematurely.

Luckily I saw this thread, was about to get a Joven RS unit as well. My Panasonic + DC pump one in my old house has been working flawlessly for 10+ years.

Guess I won't be getting a Joven and stick to Panasonic then.

Panasonic QC also slowly down the drain...

not like the old days anymore...

I see, so realistically what brand is good these days? My Alpha also lasted 10+ years

it's depends on luck...

some can last 5 years & above... some less...

I see, thanks for your explanation atilla. Seemed like I going to buy another filter to be installed just before the inlet of water heater.

Currently just using one fat 10" filter for whole house and drinking is using 3M Easy Complete.


Have no mean to ask others to not buying Joven product ya, just sharing my bad experience on this brand.

Previously my old house same as you was using the cheapest dial knob Panasonic with pump and work flawlessly for the many years and still counting. The noise from Panasonic dc pump was way quiet than joven from my own perspective.

Yes, heard from other about panasonic QC going down the drain and that's the main reason I jump ship to Joven.

Sad to say I bought 4 units panasonic inverter aircond and all of them had submitted for warranty claim within the first year.

Sometime seemed like what you said, electronics nowadays are depend on luck.

The quality of the installation is also important otherwise there will be issues down the road.
My neighbour and my Panasonic a/c 1.5-2HP still doing ok for 3-4yrs, I think they had to swap out the capacitor because of lightning strikes. My old a/c had capacitor failures because the repaorman use a cheaper eagle brand, always. I think original Panasonic/Toshiba/Daikin parts/caps are better.

Thanks all for your replies, just to follow up that my water heater is fixed.

After several complains, technician came to replace another new pump and now the noise issue has gone.
