Well, hopefully. Until he comes back in a few hours and tries it again. That bugger is also getting a warning this time right? Anyway, he is on my ignored list now. To me, he literally will not exist anywhere on LYN now. whistling.gif rclxms.gif

Currently sitting at a table in the top floor of SA building. Damn idjits behind me at the pool table making lots of noise. I keep having to turn my volume up and down because KSC75 has no insulation. Maybe a headband mod is a good idea for this situation... Grr!

Nope. Doesn't do shit for the isolation, but I noticed that if you're pressing the cans against your ears it's easier to listen to in noisy environments. Headband with tight fit hopefully may work. You still in class?

I think he was hoping he woldn't have to go recable another batch quite this soon, haha. Bro PcWork, you should know by now your recabled Koss is getting more and more famous, no way that little bit you brought to Jaben won't get sold out at a fast rate.

LOL bro, could've told you that. KSC75 really is no good on KTM-- can't hear anything over the noise unless you want to go deaf fast and turn up the volume. Not to mention all the people glaring as well.

glaring?? as in like they look at u in jealousy? lol

No. I was playing some serious death metal stuff at the time. I think they didn't take too well to blasphemy blasting tinnily from headphones. tongue.gif

I dare not say recabled KSC75 reach until Senn HD555 level, because I have not extensively tested it or heard it before to do a proper comparison. It would be very unfair to compare something I hear everyday with something I have only heard once for a short time.

Recabled KSC75 versus Shroom EB: The KSC75 still wins because it's natural sounding, wider soundstage, and ability to reproduce details e.g. bass guitar growl-- you can feel the roughness of the sound, the power. EB on the other hand smoothens it out; you can't hear the details of that bass growling at you. The bass on the KSC75 to my ear is also fuller and solid relative to the EB. Highs on the KSC75 are also not rolled off, and extension is much, much better. All the notes are crisp crisp crisp, every plink and every ting, every cymbal crash and drum beat has impact. Positioning is also very good.

EB's greatest asset for me however is the isolation it provides. I go to the EB when I want music on the go; the KSC75 though it sounds so much bettter fails in this aspect.

Thanks to bro Enigmatic for bringing in the headbands for KSC75. Am using it now, and am happy to report that outside sounds leaking in much less-- or is it that the pads are just clamped that much tighter now that gives that impression? LOL. Sadly the headband is very very tight: While being able to lie back in bed to listen to music without worrying the KSC75 will fall off is a very nice convenience, I find myself having to stop frequently and remove the cans for a bit, just to let my ears recover, else it is very painful. Also, after putting the on the headband-- which was a struggle, getting the headband OFF the phones now is a problem. I haven't been able to detach them yet. hmm.gif Rather hesitant to pull too hard in case something breaks you see.

I don't think anyone else offers recabling for this headphone. I suggest you wait.

You're busy, he's also very busy. Right now I think there may ba a short pause in recabling work. Wait a few days and PM him again, or heck just make a direct request in this thread. Which university are you at?

Stock KSC75 not so clear, bass a bit-- wild (admittedly this is out of box impression, and was a while ago; don't take my word for it). Recabled much improved, tighter, much clearer details and separation, improvement to bass, very punchy, improved presentation overall. Again, this is my impression from earlier this year, several months already... It does just about everything well, actually. Rock, pop, choral, orchestral, instrumental, vocal, semua boleh. I listen to just about everything, so I can say that yes, KSC75 recabled works for just about everything.

Listening to 'Elo Hi' sung by Ofra Haza, her voice gives me goosebumps. So does Azam Ali's singing on 'Inama Nushif' from the Children of Dune OST. Cesaria Evora's crooning in Creole is so smooth... And Kansas and Dream Theatre makes me ROCK HARD with the recabled KSC75. Super enjoicing, ttyal...

Hi. Are you new to the world of audiophiles? Welcome to where we chase after the ultimate eargasm then. biggrin.gif

What cans exactly are you planning to use with the iPod? Also, usage pattern? KSC75 works nicely in the home in a quiet environment, but don't bother trying to use them on the KTM or similarly noisy environment. If you are going on the move most of the time I'd suggest IEMs. The KSC75 benefits from amping, and PcWork's recabled version does well with the Hippo Amp (not the Hippo Box, they're two different amps) for those with limited budgets. The benefit of not using things like the E1 is that since they're player agnostic, in case you ever trade out your iPod you can use it with other players, and you can also use it to amp from laptop/CD player, etc.

Still before I looked into amps, I'd start by looking at the files I was playing from the iPod. Cans before source before amps before cables.

Do you intend to use lossy files (mp3 etc.) or Apple Lossless? If mp3 what bitrate? The KSC75 is rather revealing of bad sources, seriously. If your source is crap, it WILL sound obviously like crap with the KSC75, amp or no amp. In fact for crap sources, amping likely would bring out all the flaws even more.
