cable DEFINITELY need to burn in.
i tested with a fully burned in cable and a new braid cable. both place on a NEW ksc75.
and the burned in cable one sound much better.

How many hours do you think required to fully burn in the braid cable?

Sorry I might be annoying, but, I dont know if i should go for Grado SR80 or Pcwork Recabled koss ksc-75. The original Koss Ksc-75 is my favourite till now, and I really hope I can have the recabled one to unleash it's full potential.

Peace here, just trying to compare because I am a newbie oso.

Thanks.

i think around 50-60 hours is more than enough or the ksc75 cable that i use.
because i can't spot any significant changes after that.

ok
i never actually recabled a SR80. but i did it on a Alessendro MS1
a recabled ksc75 will in some part sound faster than ms1 that is with original cable. however, ms1 has much deeper bass while ksc75 has more impact of bass.
mid range for ms1 will be more thick, meaty and vocal seems well define on the ms1. ksc75 on the other hand doing much better on brighter side, such as female vocal, classic instrument.
and for treble, ksc75 will be significantly cripsy and more enjoyable than ms1.
so it doesn't really show a similar pattern in sound signature, it's best u can have both.

ok, story ended? no... ms1 that i recable with canare L-4E6S starts to fight back, it gets much better on the bright side, detail. however, due to it's warm signature, it;s still not as cripsy as ksc75. and ksc75 seems to have better detail. MS1 that is recable starts to show obvious improvement over sound stage. bass is best describe with well define, enjoyable, and full bodied.
mid range is still remains the same.
however, on comparison of ms1 recabled VS ksc75 recabled. i found that i love both. (no bias here) and both were very enjoyable on different type of song. and what is the best was, this two phone actually covers each other's back side.
=)
so.. enjoy urself.. imho SR80 / MS1 still very much worth the money.
just the sound stage is too direct to my ear until i personally doesn't like the sound signature.. =) however, it is still a very very good headphone.
and i found out that ms1 after recable is more power hunger compare to ksc75 recabled.

hope the information above can help you. =)

Oh gosh, thank you for the info.
I get what you mean.
Thank you, greatest respect to your recabling.

Added on November 24, 2007, 10:08 pmOh ya, if at terms of mid range, u mean Grado SR80 is better?
Hmm... My personal experience is that when my koss(original) match with ipod mini, one thing i found worst is the sound of piano, in the middle range one.
And mostly my headphones are use to drive lounge, electronic tracks, trance, so high vocals doesnt really matter.
Haha, makes me itchy to get Grado SR80 for you to recable.

haha
for your info, i personally like ksc75 vocal more than sr80.
it's best u come over to have a listen. or meet yuheng to listen. then go music by design to listen at sr80 again.
anyway. improvement over sr80 after recabled is not guaranteed

i think this is the late reply, but i would say like tat, pls spent on recable koss and once u have save enuf money, get another MS1 instead of Sr80 biggrin.gif
both are having diff sigantures and i do believe that both of the cans do perform well in different feilds, and forget about sr80, simply add RM50++ for a MS1 biggrin.gif rclxms.gif
