My Dell subwoofer system is playing up, no sound from the left speaker. Got this for more than 10+ years. Yes, I have checked the cables, thinking it could be a loose connection but no. Think of some electronic failure. Appreciate advice from those who have used a similar system for me to try it out.

Plan to replace it as I like good sound while using my PC. Which system/brand would you recommend?

Thanks.

Thanks to all for your replies.

My budget is only RM300. Really wish I could get my existing left speaker back to life. The sound from this system is surprisingly good.

First thing to check, is there a signal going to that speaker. Plan to cut the wire and hook it up to another speaker and see.

I was going to get Evo 11 Pro, looks impressive for the price. But later decided on Pana SFK100 as this has a CD player. More convenient if I want to use a CD for my drumming. Ha. I have ordered one.

Good news, managed to solve my no-sound from the left speaker problem.

It was an accidental discovery. I moved my right speaker and it shut down my PC. Investigated and thought it was the 3.5 mm plug to my LG monitor (PC to monitor via HDMI), then to the subwoofer box, and the 2 speakers. Possible short circuit when moving the speaker, shutting down the PC.

That 3.5 mm plug did not plug in tightly. Maybe it is a 3.0 mm plug? Or maybe from the past 20 yrs of use, tear and wear?

Using wired headphones to LG monitor, can get both left and right sound. So the problem is not from the PC.

Bought a cable with 2 x 3.5 mm plugs. Cut and reconnected the tiny wires. Bingo, music on both speakers now!

I was afraid the problem was in the PC motherboard or the subwoofer electronic. That will be outside my DIY knowledge and skills.

Finally.
