Hi,
recently I received email from Shopee saying my IC number linked to the account is not mine. Someone reported and said the IC number is theirs.
I raised an issue bcoz afaik that's mine. I give my proof of IC number. Their reply - cannot change the IC number with another? and account will be proceeded for deletion.

I raised another issue as I don't want to change IC number, but enquire for account deletion and because someone reported me using their IC number and I also said want to lodge for formal complaint. Fast forward, today they reply my account is not linked to any IC number? That's just it, hence no deletion.

Anyone having similar experience? I know my account will not be deleted but still, a bit worried 😟 coz it is IC number and bcoz someone reported it n I give my IC photo to customer service.

Ps. Afair i use shopee pay and only put my IC number (no eKYC) and I got ~RM250 of Shopee coins recently from buying.

If its really your acc, and registered under your ic, why scared?

Are u sure the email is from shopee? Whats the address of the sender?

Initial first two email from help@support.shopee.com.my. Last one from contact.my@mailgun.cs.shopee.com.

Bcoz someone reported me? Scheme to use my IC number? Paranoid mode trigger...

Did u clicked any link in the email. Im not familiar with shopee cs email address, but that email look dodgy. i suggest you change your password for shopee asap. Make sure your 2fa enabled, and reach out to shopee cs thru the app, try to confirm whether the email is legit or not

No link in email. Same content appears on Shopee app and I reply through app. Still, because initially they said someone report me and then somehow no IC number linked to my account.

Shopee is dodgy. I had an issue about fakes and the entire bacl and forth conversation got deleted on their web ui. It was like nothing happened.

Someone use your ic and they still unlink despite you have proof? Report police for identity theft.

TS didn't KYC so, not exactly proof

It is good that they brought it up and ask for confirmation with the account in question.

If TS is the owner why is he afraid? He must be thankful that at least people are informing him that his IC is being misused to create fake accounts.

Yes, go straight to police to file a case to protect yourself.

That's the entire point about PADU if used with good intention. Many fraud cases and attempts will emerge after this if the government is serious to match them with current unreliable databases.

Many Malaysians not happy about it because somehow they have dirty records in hiding.
