My opinion is China car dont do enough homework on our market needs.

If i look purely at Geely/Proton , seems that they still refuse to acknowledge that many of us dont like 3 cylinder engines. Yet , their 1.5T engines still use the old 3 potter while PRC market has moved onto 4 cylinder 1.5T.
Then the issue of suspension , its too soft for most of us. Ppl here drive very aggresively , the suspension has to be firmer and chassis should not roll around . In my opinion , Mazda got this right , many ppl here prefer the European suspension feel.

If PRC is sincere to capture market share here , they should address our needs correctly. I hvnt talk abt spare parts availability yet.

Firm suspension is not equals to hard suspension.
Firm suspension is done using longer suspension travel but stiffer absorbers.
Hard suspension is done using short and stiff springs .
Very different feel.

We hate stupid GOM protecting local carmakers that aren’t local anymore with high taxes and expensive prices that don’t even cover their massive subsidy of cheap petrol. Stupid on many levels.

look at the state of Lazada now. thats what happen when they think to conquer other market can simply use china template. compared to shopee which is much more localised and friendly to its local market, lazada stem roll everything to follow china way. in Baoteng also the same, malaysian wants MPV but they give crappy 7 seat SUV which nobody wants. 3 cylinder thats already discontinue at home market. car that have been facelifted numerous times in china. stupid transmission. market wants small A, B segment car/mpv/van but they give wrong product. because they think this is china and wants everyone to use baidu map and listen to QQ music while making payment using wechat

Nice is never good.

CN cars followed conti too much and also inherited the same problems. Technically, can be as unreliable in later years.

Biggest hurdle is China product credibility. For example XiaoMi smartphone 1st gen only good then the rest sampah until they cannot tahan the loss and decide to start giving decent product. You may say if bad then change other brand but general populace don't have the luxury to afford another car if the 1st car turn out to be a bad deal.
